Making decisions as to what courses you want to study at A Level or Level 3 can be quite difficult and daunting for students. This year we will be launching the KS5 Pathways Process, in which students will be guided and supported in order to make those important subject/courses choices. However, there are 5 easy steps to follow in order to get a place at Holte Sixth Form:

  • Look through the prospectus and decide which courses you want to study.
  • See your subject teacher about the course you have chosen. They will give you further advice regarding the course.
  • Discuss your choices with your parents.
  • Check that your estimated grades meet with the entry requirements for the course, (and that you are working hard to achieve them).
  • Complete the application form and return it to Mr Gakhal.

Following this you will receive a time for your interview to discuss your choices.

On receipt of GCSE examination results in August, students who meet the entry requirements for their chosen subjects will be given a place to start their courses in September. Students who do not meet the conditions of their offer will require an interview with Mr Gakhal or Mrs Tracey to discuss available options. The Holte Sixth Form application window for September entry is now open. Y11 Holte pupils and external pupils can access the MS Form on the school website homepage and on the Sixth Form admission tab. The closing date is 2nd December and then we will interview applicants on 8th December.

Before you complete the MS Form; Read the 'Subject Options Block' document to understand the subjects available. Go through the 'Subject Entry Requirements' document to ensure you understand entry requirements for each subject. When completing the electronic MS Form you must consider the following:

*Please select 3 subjects from across the option blocks.

  • *If you select a double (BTEC Health & Social Care, BTEC IT or CTEC Sport) you can only select 1 other subject from a different option block.
  • *If you select BTEC IT double then you cannot select Business. You can select BTEC IT single and Business.
  • *You will choose a 4th subject in September.
  • *Clashes - If pupils have chosen a subject which is set in a block which has another subject they are keen on pursuing, please state this on the application form (last question). For example, 'I have chosen English in block A but would like to do Maths too'.
