Parents choose Thames for many reasons: small classes, academic results, strong pastoral care, personal attention, co-curricular opportunities and excellent teaching.
Our admissions process involves getting to know both you and your child. We take care to create an honest and open process, seeking to understand your child’s aspirations and how they could thrive at Thames. Every pupil and family must feel they can support our ethos and values.
If you think that Thames might be the school for your child, we encourage you to request a prospectus, email our admissions team at admissions@thameschristianschool.org.uk or call us on 020 7228 3933 to book into one of our open mornings or arrange a private tour to meet and speak with our staff and pupils.

Applicants will be invited to sit an entrance assessment which has a written component and, for those applying for September entry into Year 7 and Year 9 a practical component. A reference will be sought from the applicant’s current school to help assess all-round potential and attitude towards learning. Finally both the applicant and the applicant’s parents or carers will be interviewed with a senior member of staff. All applications are considered on a case by case basis and handled in confidence.
Applications for September into Year 7 (11+) or Year 9 (13+) should be received by Friday 3rd November. Late applications may be considered if there is space in the class.
Applications for places in existing Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 are welcome and places are subject to availability. Please contact the school office for more information. For applications into existing classes taster days will be arranged. This enables your child to experience the school, helping to ensure that the move will be successful.
Thames is a mainstream school with recognised provision for a small number of pupils with mild Specific Learning Difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or dyscalculia. If your child has Special Educational Needs or a disability you may make an appointment for an informal discussion with the SENDCo at one of our Open Mornings to discuss your child’s needs and any reasonable adjustments they may require. Pupils are expected to complete a GCSE and A Level curriculum and expectations of behaviour and personal responsibility are high. The school is usually unable to provide for pupils who require an alternative curriculum.
All applications are handled in complete confidence and the decision of our Head is final. The school is not obliged to state reasons for rejection of an applicant. For further information please call the school on 020 7228 3933.
Our A Level provision is intended to give pupils an excellent platform from which to go on to higher education or employment.
Alongside their A Level subjects, students engage in an exciting co-curricular programme to develop excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills. This includes workplace mentoring, independent volunteering, real world skills, leadership development and sport. The development of these skills sets our students apart, preparing them for a successful future.
Staff at Thames take time to invest deeply in each student, helping them to develop compassion and respect, wisdom, confidence and resilience. Small group teaching, individualised learning and pastoral support embed an atmosphere of trust and respect rooted in a Christian ethos. Excellent teaching and academic support along with the freedom to pursue individual interests within small group environments make Thames an ideal environment in which to study A levels.
Our new purpose built facility next to Clapham Junction station has been designed with A levels in mind. Sixth Form students benefit from a common room, a quiet study room and separate seminar rooms along with the extensive specialist facilities for science, art, design technology, music and drama. On sunny days they are able to study or socialise on the rooftop courtyard.
