The number of new children we can accept in to Reception each year is 30. The maximum number of pupils in any class in the Reception or KS1 will not exceed 30. If the number of applications received exceeds the number of places available, the following criteria will be used to determine the children who can be admitted:
All admissions for a place in Reception class in the September of each academic year will be handled by the Admissions and Appeals department of Birmingham City Council. In year admissions will be handled by the school. Priority is as stated above with the exception of in year changes to Year 6, which will be offered for exceptional circumstances only. The school will maintain a waiting list according to priority as stated above. Exceptions to the policy may be made when, to admit a child with specific needs might hinder the progress and/or attainment of children already on roll.
If your child has been refused a place at one of your preferred schools (primary or secondary) outside the normal round of admissions (ie at any time other than as above), you may appeal within 20 school days of the refusal of the place. Your appeal will be heard within 30 school days of being lodged. Appeals are not heard during school holidays.
Check the individual school’s website for information about how to lodge an appeal application.
