Admission to MIS is a process. We ask that parents please make themselves aware of the complete process through the website and direct contact with school staff. Under Admissions, the section titled, "How To Apply" gives complete details.
As a college-preparatory school, our standards are exceptionally high and we strive to maintain both an environment and rigorous academics to serve our families.
How to Apply
Students from many different countries with a wide range of education system and curriculum background are welcome to apply at MIS. Please know our Admission Team follows a specific procedure with regards to the admission and registration process, which help us determine whether a new student applicant is a good match for our school.
A student’s application is considered based on the following factors and priority sequence:
- Seat availability.
- Grade level placement (in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s international curriculum equivalency table).
- Previous academic and behavior records (includes recommendation form).
- Admission test results.
- Student’s age.
- Siblings already enrolled in MIS or applying to MIS.
- Students coming from an accredited American curriculum.
Kindly take the time to read through the following step-by-step process to ensure your child’s completed application will be considered in a timely manner.
Step 1: Application Process
- The Student Application Form is included in this admission packet, available as a hardcopy in the Administration Office or can be downloaded from the school website:
- It is important that all required documents listed on the admission packet are submitted along with the completed application form to Administration (by hand or by mail) in order to proceed to the next step of the process.
- Registration is subject to seat availability. Please refer to the international education equivalency table from the Ministry of Education (attached) for the appropriate grade level placement.
[Note: If a student is coming from a curriculum other than an American curriculum or its equivalent, MIS will consider the student’s school history over the past three years and age, in conjunction with the Ministry’s equivalency table, to determine the most appropriate grade level for testing.]
For students transferring from another school in Qatar, the following requirements are necessary as the first step for admission:
- Completed student application form and student behavior form.
- Provide copies of the current school final report cards for the past 2-3 years, including the most recent term report (signed and stamped).
- Provide copies (back-to-back) of the student’s Qatar ID and front page of the passport.
- Provide copies (back-to-back) of both parents’ Qatar IDs and front pages of their passports.
- Provide copy of birth certificate.
- Provide two passport photographs.
- Complete recommendation form from the School Head/Counselor/Teacher of their school – sent via email or in a sealed, stamped envelope.
For students who are new in Qatar, the following requirements are necessary for the first step of admission:
- Completed student application form and student behavior form.
- Provide copies of the current school final report cards for the past 2-3 years, including the most recent term report (Report cards must be signed and stamped by your local embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as per the Ministry of Education mandate.).
- Provide copies (back-to-back) of the student’s Qatar ID* and front page of the passport and the page where the date of entry/arrival in Doha is stamped.
- Provide copies (back-to-back) of both parents’ Qatar IDs* and front pages of their passports.
- Provide copy of birth certificate.
- Provide two passport photographs.
- Complete recommendation form from the School Head/Counselor/Teacher of their school – sent via email or in a sealed, stamped envelope.
*If the Qatar ID is still under process, the sponsor parent is required to submit an official letter from their employer/company stating their employment and family visa status.
Step 2: Admission Test / Assessment
- Payment of the Application/Test Fee (nonrefundable) will be collected upon receiving the application form and requirements (Amount of QR. 204).
KG applications will not be charged any test fee; only an application fee of QR. 102 will be collected.
- Once all required documents are checked, parents will be contacted by email with regards to the status of their child’s application as well as the next step of the admission process (test schedule).
- The student will be scheduled for a KG assessment or an admission test for grades 1-12. The admission test includes reading, language usage, writing, and math, consisting of 20-25 items per section. The test may take approximately 1 to 2 hours.
- Once the student has taken the admission test, the results will be communicated to the parent within one week. Parents will be notified only by email about the results and the status of their child’s application ((i.e. cleared for registration, waitlisted, recommended for retest).
For KG students, parents will receive some feedback from the KG Principal about the outcome of their assessment.
- If recommended, a retest may be required after a minimum of one month to give a student the opportunity to prepare and achieve a better score in the retest at no additional fee.
- A parent/student interview may be scheduled after testing to further discuss the results and status of a student, as deemed necessary by the principal or Head of School.
- Please note the acceptance of a student in MIS are primarily considered based on the following factors: - Admission test results - Student’s previous academic and behavior records.
- Outcome of parent/student interview.
- In cases where a student does not meet grade level expectations in the admission test, the application will either be turned down or waitlisted or deliberated further through a formal meeting/interview between the parent, student and Principal or Head of School.
Based on the outcome of the interview, the student may be recommended for acceptance under a conditional or probationary status or denied admission. On a conditional admission, the parent will be obliged to sign on the conditions upon which their child will be admitted in MIS to confirm that they agree accordingly.
Step 3: Registration Confirmation And Fee Payment Formalities
- As per the Ministry of Education’s registration policy, in order for a student to be officially registered in any school in Qatar, it is mandatory to secure the Qatar ID and the attested final report prior to registration.
- At this point, all documents—if any that are pending—should be provided to complete the student’s application file.
- When a student is confirmed for registration, parents will be informed through email and an acceptance letter from MIS will be provided for parents to sign during registration. [A transfer certificate/letter from their current school may be required to complete registration.].
- Parents can then proceed to the Accounts Office to pay for the one-time registration fee of QR. 2550 (non-refundable) to secure the seat of their child.
- All other financial and miscellaneous obligations (i.e. tuition fee payment, bus arrangements, school uniform and books) will be arranged and provided through the Accounts Office.
- Please note that the section that your child is assigned to will only be announced in the beginning of the school year or semester.
Important Note
New students, who have not obtained their Qatar ID, may follow the Admission-Registration procedure through to Step 2 but will only be registered in the school system and may begin attending the classes once the required ID is submitted.
A student will not be permitted to attend school if the parent has not settled the school fees.
MIS will not reserve a seat for a new student for more than one month after the registration confirmation has been sent, unless the parent has notified the Administration about the status of their child’s pending application.
Parent’s Disclosure Of Information
Parents are required to produce all information (academic, medical, disabilities or special education history, and previous school-related social behavior) that may impact upon MIS’ ability to provide education and/or ascertain whether or not we can offer the most appropriate instructional program to the child.
Failure to disclose the information required can result in interrupted or terminated education services for that child, if, in the absence of such vital information, the child was registered in MIS, based on misleading information.
