Completing Your Application

If any of the application requirements pose a burden to your family, please contact the Admissions Office. We are trying to keep the process as inclusive as possible and are sensitive to the differing circumstances of each family.

Application Process

  • Application For Grade 3 to 10+: Prior to submitting an application or scheduling a tour and interview, please send the applicant’s high school transcript or class list to email address. Please complete your online application by January 5. The online application includes the required Student Information, Family Information, Parent Questionnaire, and $60 application fee.
  • Interview: Prior to scheduling your interview, please send the applicant's high school transcript or class list to email address. Please schedule a virtual interview via the applicant portal or contact the Admissions Office. During the interview, we hope to speak with both you and your daughter. Information regarding the format of the interview will be sent to your email with the appointment confirmation.
  • Testing: Applicants will take a required online in-house test. This test will be administered virtually by Holton. After your family completes the first steps of the application, the Admissions Office will email you the available dates and instructions to register for the virtual test.
  • Transcript: Holton-Arms requires an official transcript for the current and previous school years. Please sign and give the Request for Transcript form to your daughter's school.
  • Recommendations: Holton-Arms requires three current teacher recommendations (English Teacher, Math Teacher, and a Third Teacher of your choice). The third teacher should be an individual familiar with the applicant, such as an athletic coach, mentor, art teacher, music teacher, etc. Recommendation forms can be submitted through the Applicant Portal.

Additional recommendations from other teachers, coaches, mentors, and friends are welcome, but not required and may be submitted to email.

  • Applicant Visit Day: All Applicants will be required to attend our virtual Applicant Visit Day on January 15. More details will be available in the winter.
  • Character Skills Snapshot (Optional): At Holton-Arms, the admissions process is guided by the School's mission to cultivate the unique potential of young women through "the education not only of the mind, but of the soul and spirit" (Jessie Moon Holton). We recognize that potential encompasses much more than high academic achievement, and we strive to learn about each applicant's interests, talents, and personal qualities that make her the unique individual she is. That is why we are excited about the Character Skills Snapshot - an online assessment tool developed by the Enrollment Management Association. Although this assessment is not required, we strongly recommend that all of our applicants complete the Character Skills Snapshot, as we believe it will provide insight into areas of strengths that are not reflected in grades and test scores.

If Registered for SSAT: The Snapshot is free of charge and once you register for the SSAT, you will receive an email inviting your daughter to take The Snapshot. View registration process: SSAT testers

If Registered for ISEE: There is a $25 fee for The Snapshot. View registration process: Non-testers
