Apply to Concord Academy

Concord Academy is interested in bright students who love learning in a challenging and supportive environment, who embrace diverse people and ideas, who are curious about the world around them, and who uphold strong community values.

The Admissions Team looks forward to getting to know each applicant and their family through this process. Our application review process is highly individualized and considers the entire application. We have no minimum GPA or test score requirements. Rather, we carefully consider all pieces of the application including your personal statement, comments from parents or guardians, your interview, letters of recommendation, and additional documents that you might submit.

Thoughtful attention is given to each application by an admissions committee comprised of admissions counselors, current CA faculty, and senior students.

When reviewing applications, we hope to discover some of the following strengths:

  • Academic performance
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Character
  • Maturity
  • Community involvement
  • Potential for growth
  • Particular talents, hobbies, and passions
  • The capacity for positive relationships with adults and peers
  • Individual expression and open-mindedness

If you have questions about the application process, call or email the Admissions Office or use our Drop-In Virtual Office Hours. Information about these drop-in office hours is located on our events page.

The Application Process

We are delighted to get to know you through your application! The information that follows explains our process. Please make note of the important dates, and do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.

Important Dates

  • All application materials must be submitted to the Admissions Office by January 15.
  • Admissions decisions will be returned to applicants on March 10.
  • All admitted students should notify us of their decision to enroll by April 10.

Step 1: Request Information and Create an Online Account

Concord Academy uses Ravenna Solutions, an online admissions system, to streamline the admissions process for families. After completing the ‘request information’ form, please create an account at ravenna-hub website. Please use an email address that you will have access to throughout the admissions process and be certain to save your login credentials. Creating a Ravenna account will allow you to:

  • Complete the student and parent portions of the application if using the Ravenna application*
  • Send requests for letters of recommendation to your student’s teachers via email
  • Register for events
  • Check the status of the application
  • Receive your decision on March 10

*CA also accepts applications from the Gateway to Prep Schools application, as well as the Student Application Online (SAO). Applicants using the Gateway or SAO application do not need to complete the Ravenna application forms; however, regardless of which application you use, a Ravenna account is necessary.

Step 2: Schedule an Interview

While interviews are not required for admission to Concord Academy, we do encourage families to interview and take a virtual tour of campus.

We conduct interviews Monday through Friday from September through the end of January. (See the full schedule and instructions to register here). Interviews fill up quickly. The sooner you call us, the more likely we are to be able to accommodate your visit request.

Step 3: Student and Parent Application Forms (due by January 15)

The family portion of the application includes basic biographical information, a Student Application, and a Parent Statement. These forms should only be completed on one application platform (Ravenna, Gateway, or SAO).

Step 4: Transcripts, Attendance Records, and Letters of Recommendation (due by January 15)

Your application includes documents to request:

  • Current year grades
  • Your report card/transcript from the prior academic year*
  • A recommendation from your guidance counselor/secondary school placement counselor, or another appropriate school official.
  • A recommendation from your current year English teacher.**
  • A recommendation from your current year math teacher.**

Step 5: Submit Standardized Test Scores (optional)

If you have test results that you would like to submit, you are welcome to do so.

If English is not your primary language and/or if you have attended an English speaking school for less than three years, we require you to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language exam (TOEFL IBT or ITS), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo. CA’s TOEFL code is 2255.

Step 6: Optional: Visual and Performing Art Submissions

In order to optimize the visual and performing arts review, please submit all supplemental materials on the “Optional Supplemental Materials” form in Ravenna. This form accepts PDFs and links only. Links should not be password protected. Supplemental materials submitted through other means (i.e. through email or on the SAO or Gateway applications) can not be reviewed. Thank you for understanding and please let us know if you have any questions
