Goals For Admission
We encourage applications from intellectually curious, motivated and well-rounded students throughout Connecticut and western Massachusetts. The Admissions Committee looks for evidence of:
Interview
Our application deadline was February 1, however, during rolling admissions, we are still hosting interviews via Zoom. Those interview appointments can be scheduled online within your Ravenna account. Alternatively, you may reach out to admissions via email or phone to sign up. Contact us at [email protected] or by phone at 860-727-5000. Please plan for the interview to last about an hour.
The video meeting will begin with a student portion with one of our Admissions Officers and then we welcome to spend time with a parent or guardian to wrap up the meeting.
We are excited to be offering spring tours on campus during our school day! You can register via your Ravenna Account or by calling our office at (860) 727-5000. We also encourage you to learn more about KO and student life on campus by visiting our Virtual Admissions Center page. We can't wait to meet you!
Online Application
While students have a choice of which application to use, all applicants need to set up a Ravenna account in order to schedule a Zoom interview and register for other events, as well as view their admissions decisions.
Middle School applicants (Grades 6, 7, 8) must use the KO online application. The application fee is $55. Once an account is created, it is here you will be able to view, track and complete the checklist items.
Upper School applicants (Grades 9, 10, 11) may apply one of two ways. The first is the KO online application and the second is the Standard Application Online*, also known as the SAO. The application fee is $55. The international application fee is $100. (Should your family need financial assistance for the application fee please contact our office at 860-727-5000 to request a fee waiver.)
* For those 9th, 10th, 11th-grade applicants applying via the SAO, you will manage and complete your application here and updates will stream into your Ravenna account. Please note: there may be a slight delay in these updates. You will pay the admissions fee within the SAO once you select Kingswood Oxford as one of the schools receiving the application.
Testing
Kingswood Oxford will be test-optional for the Admissions Season for Fall Enrollment. Visit this link for more specific information.
Recommendation Forms
We require three forms as part of our application process: English recommendation form, Math recommendation form, and a Principal/Guidance Counselor Report Form. These recommendation forms can be accessed and managed online through your account and completed by the applicant's current English and Math teachers. The Principal/Guidance Counselor Report also can be accessed and managed online and should be completed by a school official (i.e. Principal, guidance counselor, advisor, or homeroom teacher).
The Supplemental Recommendation Form is an optional recommendation form that can be completed by a coach, music instructor, or specific subject-matter teacher. Applicants may ask one person to complete a Supplemental Recommendation Form.
For applicants who are choosing NOT to submit standardized test scores: We are requiring an additional Academic Recommendation Form with the application. This can be accessed in your online account.
Transcripts
The Transcript Release Form, which can be accessed and managed through your account, should be completed by a school official (i.e. Principal, guidance counselor, advisor, or homeroom teacher). Transcripts containing the most up to date grades from the current year and final grades from the previous two years should be sent directly from the school official. Transcripts may be uploaded online if your student is using the SAO. Transcripts may be emailed to [email protected], mailed or faxed to (860) 236-3651 or mailed to: ATTN: Admissions Office, 170 Kingswood Road, West Hartford, CT, 06119
Writing Sample
Within your online account, please upload a 1-3 page graded writing paper from an English class or another academic subject from your current school year. You may also email this sample to [email protected]. Please make sure the applicant’s name is in the subject line when emailing the file.
Financial Assistance
For instructions on how to apply for need-based Financial Assistance, visit the Tuition and Affordability page. The Parents' Financial Statement must be submitted concurrently with your student's application and has the same deadline of February 1st.
