Kindergarten
The Kindergarten application process for Nishimachi starts approximately one year in advance of starting school. Please find below important dates, timelines and procedures.

| Applicants must be 5 years old by August 31 of the enrolling year. |
| Applications for the next school year can be submitted from September 1. |
| The application documents must be submitted by October 31 to be considered for the group screening scheduled in January. |
| Parent interviews for selected applicants will be scheduled for the month of November and December, and we ask both parents (if available) to be present. |
| Applications from overseas (outside of Tokyo) will still be accepted after the October 31 deadline. |
| Kindergarten Admissions Screening |

| A group screening for selected applicants will be conducted during the second week of January. |
| Please note that Kindergarten applicants must be screened in-person whenever possible. |
| Applicants will be evaluated for communication skills in English as well as social/behavioral maturity to ensure the child’s success at Nishimachi. |
| The admissions result will be sent in email by early February. |
| In order to maintain student language/gender balance in the class, some applications may be kept in the waiting pool after the documents are reviewed. |
Grades 1-8
Applications for the next school year can be submitted from November 1. The application documents will be reviewed from February. Please find below important information regarding the admissions process.

| Applicants will be evaluated for proficiency in English and grade-level Mathematics to ensure the child’s success. |
| Applications are not prioritized by the date on which they are received. |
| Some applicants may be invited to be screened prior to an admissions decision. |
| Parent Interviews for some applicants may be arranged prior to an admissions decision. |
| All students at Nishimachi study Japanese, either as a first or additional language 45-60 minutes a day. Japanese classes are structured according to students' Japanese language proficiency as determined by Nishimachi. Please note that children who have attended a Japanese school are not automatically assigned to a first-language class. |
