How to Apply

Applying to a new school may seem overwhelming, but we’re here to help! Our Admissions team will guide you through the process and make your transition to life at Linden Hall as seamless as possible. Whether you're applying as a Day Student, Boarding Student, or International Student for August or January entry, your journey at Linden Hall is just a few steps away.

Linden Hall offers two convenient application options: the Ravenna application, and the Standard Application Online (SAO). Each system may be used to apply to multiple schools.

Important Update: Linden Hall is test-flexible and does not require an application fee.

Step 1: Connect with us

Complete one or more of the following steps to start!

  • Complete an online inquiry form via Ravenna on our website. Once completed, log in to Ravenna to start your application.

OR

  • Start your Standard Application Online (SAO) and add Linden Hall to your application list.

AND/OR

  • Take a tour, Zoom with an admission counselor, or visit a class! Access our online scheduler on our website.

Step 2: Start your Application

Log in to your chosen application system (Ravenna or SAO) and review the required items.

Recommendations from our Admissions team:

  • Request teacher forms early in the process to give them plenty of time
  • Review required and optional items via your online checklist
  • Schedule necessary testing or interviews in the coming days/weeks

Step 3: Complete your Application and Supporting Documents

  • Application Form: Submit your SAO or Ravenna application. As of August 1, there is no application fee to apply to Linden Hall, so no need to request a fee waiver!
  • Submit Transcripts: If using the Ravenna, Linden Hall allows you to submit unofficial transcripts yourself during the application process. We require the three most recent years of records (two most recent years and a progress report for the current year)
  • Test Scores: Linden Hall is pleased to offer a test-flexible policy beginning Fall. Please click on our website to review your options. If you elect to send the SSAT, please send your scores directly to Linden Hall. Linden Hall's SSAT score code is 4650. Remember, students educated outside the US are asked only for English proficiency testing, nothing more!
  • Teacher Recommendations: Recommendation forms should be electronically sent to teachers and administrators from your application account. Forms should be sent to your current English teacher, current Math teacher, and a school official who can comment on your attendance and citizenship (e.g., guidance counselor, assistant principal, registrar). Please send these forms to the recipient’s official school email address, if one is available.
  • Interview: Your interview is chance for an admission counselor to learn more about you, your goals, and how you will contribute to, and benefit from, a Linden Hall education. All admission interviews are conducted virtually over Zoom. Please schedule your interview through our Calendly page. If you are located outside of the United State, you may instead choose to interview with our partner, Vericant.
  • English Proficiency Testing: If you have been educated outside of the US or Canada at any point in the last 5 years*, you are likely required to submit English proficiency test scores as your only test scores. This will satisfy your Standardized Testing Requirement. We accept both the TOEFL and Duolingo tests. Our TOEFL Institution Code is 0435. For students needing support with English, Linden Hall offers an English as a Second Language (ESL) program to students in grades 9-11 for an extra cost. ESL support may be available for grades 6-8, please email us for details.

*If you have studied outside the US/Canada in the last 5 years but feel you should not submit English Proficiency Testing, please contact us to discuss your situation.

  • Optional Items of Support: Linden Hall invites additional information that may enhance your application. This may include evaluations for IEPs and 504 plans, additional test scores, music recordings, a short art portfolio, a newspaper clipping, unusually strong athletic results, or a description of a particularly noteworthy accomplishment or project. Some items may be considered for a merit scholarship. Please note that only about 10% of our applicants submit additional materials, so you are not at any disadvantage in the admission process if you do not submit items beyond the application requirements. We provide this option so that students who feel their strengths are not adequately captured in the application materials have a chance to shine!

Step 4: Apply for Need-Based Financial Aid (optional)

If you are seeking need-based financial aid as part of your admission to Linden Hall, you must apply for financial aid at the same time you apply for admission. Details for applying for need-based financial aid are on the Tuition & Financial Aid section of our website.
