Non-Resident Applicants
TYIS recognizes applicants living outside Japan may be unavailable for personal interviews, and the decision to relocate may be based on assurances of space and acceptance. Therefore, TYIS will accept non-resident students on the basis of an analysis of the documents listed above and/or video interview. Also, we require resident visas for those who are not of Japanese citizenship. An applicant who is living in a foreign country that applies and is waiting for a resident visa may pay an entrance fee and wait for one term. However, if they are not able to receive the visa then they need to change their status to LOA in order to hold the position.
Decisions
Admissions decisions are based on the following criteria;
Non-native -English-speaking Applicants
English abilities will be evaluated through screenings and the interview. The applicant may be required to enroll in TYIS’s Academic Support for Kids program (ASK).
Applicants for grades 6-9 with no English language experience will not be accepted. Our school capacity for ASK students is 30% per class or 30% school-wide.
