Following the formal assessment of a child's needs by Cardiff Local Authority, a Proposed Statement of Special Educational Needs is written. This Statement describes a child's special needs and specifies the provision required to meet these needs. Referrals to the school are discussed and agreed by a panel of professionals. They decide whether Meadowbank School is able to meet the needs of each child that is referred to them. This group meets once a half term throughout the year.

If parents agree with the decision of the panel, then a final Statement of Special Educational Needs is issued naming Meadowbank School. This process is led and managed by the Senior Casework Officer in the Achievement and Inclusion Service Team of the Local Authority. Children are admitted to the school when a place becomes available.

Any parent wishing to visit the school may do so by telephoning the school and making an appointment with Mrs Hardy (Headteacher). Once placements have been confirmed parents and pupils are invited to a Parents Induction meeting and transition sessions for pupils arranged in due course.
