Applying to Holderness is very straightforward. There is a lot of fine print, but it’s hard to go wrong. Just follow the instructions below—taking special note of the important deadlines to help you plan—and complete each step as thoroughly as possible. Steps to Apply

STEP 1: INQUIRE

STEP 2: SCHEDULE A VIRTUAL VISIT

In accordance with public health best practices, Holderness School is currently operating on a distance learning model. While classes are not being held on the Holderness School campus, the Admission Office remains open and available to show you our campus and answer your questions.

STEP 3: APPLY

After you have filled out our online inquiry form, the next step is to visit the online site of the SSAT application, which allows families to complete just one online application that will pre-fill to multiple private/independent schools' applications.

STEP 4: REQUIRED TESTING

  • Applicants for the ninth or tenth grade must take the SSAT. A WISC–V or WISC IV, taken within the past two years, will be accepted in place of the SSAT.
  • Eleventh grade, twelfth grade, and post graduate applicants have the option of taking the PSAT, SAT, or ACT.
  • The TOEFL is required for non–native speakers of English.

STEP 5: PAYMENT FOR APPLICATION

  • An application fee of $50 is required for all domestic students. If you are an international student, the fee is $125. U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank or international money order are required.
  • If you are filling out the Holderness School online application, you will be automatically prompted to pay the fee on the last page.
  • If you are downloading the PDF version of the Holderness School application, you will need to submit your fee through the Holderness School E-payment Portal. Please include the printed confirmation sheet with your mailed, scanned, or faxed application.
