Welcome! Your Wayland journey begins here, joining nearly 200 years of students who sat in your same exact position, contemplating the community, connection, and opportunity that awaits at Wayland Academy.
We’re excited for you! We are excited for you to meet our faculty, visit our school, and discover what makes Wayland a unique, distinctive choice among boarding schools.
As you learn more about us and apply, you’ll discover a place that is brimming with opportunities and traditions such as: cheering on more than 20 Big Red sports teams each year, welcoming family and alumni back to campus each fall for Homecoming, and passing the baton of student leadership in the uniquely Wayland way of the centuries-old Axe Hunt.
All in all, Wayland is the perfect mix of culture, creativity, energy, and intellectual rigor. Here, curiosity is cool, and you have a whole campus—representing more than 30 countries and 15 states—as your fan club.
What will you bring to Wayland? Explore our pages, reach out, and join us on campus. We look forward to meeting you soon!
Complete Your Application
Applications are due February 1 and we aim to release decisions on March 10. Applications submitted after February 1 are considered on a rolling, space available basis.
Share Your Transcripts (past two years)
Please provide transcripts for your past two consecutive years of schooling. These may be submitted through the application site you are using (Gateway to Prep, Standard Application Online, or our own online application) or they may be submitted to us at admission@wayland.org.
If your transcript does not provide your most recent semester grades, please submit a report card that details your current academic year’s progress.
Submit Your Recommendation Forms
We ask for two teacher recommendations, one from a math/science teacher, and one from an English, History, or Social Studies teacher. Should you wish, you may also submit a recommendation from a Principal or Counselor, and one personal recommendation from a coach or mentor.
Schedule an Interview
An interview is a great way for us to learn more about you, especially the details that didn’t quite make your application essay. We interview students in over 40 cities around the world annually, on our campus throughout the year, and via Zoom.
Please ensure you have completed the remaining application steps before requesting an interview.
International Applicants
If a student has not been in an English curriculum for at least four years, please provide English Proficiency test scores.
