Trinity strives to make the path to enrollment as open and seamless as possible. We’ve put together some resources to help you along the way. And we’re always available to answer all your questions and provide any additional help during the process.
Steps to Enrollment
Follow these five steps to learn more about what Trinity has to offer, and how to become a member of the Trinity family.
Step 1 Exploring Trinity
Before the test taking and the class schedules, this exploratory stage of the admissions process will help you and your son get a better feel for Trinity. This step is essential. We have designed several programs and events to give you an up close and personal perspective.
Step 2 Placement Tests
The Placement Test is the first formal step in the admissions process. It’s a nationally standardized test that is given to all the Catholic high schools in Louisville and it is required for admission to Trinity High School. Only eighth-graders are permitted to take the test, and you are encouraged to give your very best effort.
Step 3 Recommendations
Once your son takes the Placement Test, his test score will be reviewed by Trinity High School personnel. Based on his academic strengths and weaknesses, a program of studies is recommended. But the process doesn’t end there. We will send our recommendations for a Program of Study to his elementary teachers for their review prior to registration evenings. Teachers do us the great service of providing valuable written feedback. The test scores, our recommendations, and their feedback are then gathered in a personal folder for you prior to personalized one-on-one registration meetings in February or March with us.
Step 4 Registration
Registration typically occurs during late February or early March. The raw test scores, our recommended Program of Study, elementary teacher feedback and your input are combined to forge a plan for success. At this time, you will meet with individual counselors, teachers and administrators to come to an agreement on a Program of Studies for your son.
There is a $75 registration fee, indicating a family’s commitment to partner with Trinity for their son’s high school years.
The test scores, our recommendations, and their feedback are then gathered in a personal folder for you prior to personalized one-on-one registration meetings in February or March with us.
Step 5 Book Sales
At the beginning of August, incoming freshmen are invited to come to Trinity to purchase books and receive their formal class schedule. This is an exciting time, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating.
In an effort to make the transition into high school a positive experience, we have created a series of events to ensure a smooth start to high school life at Trinity. After purchasing books, you will be greeted by a current senior, taken to your locker, then introduced to your House Director. The Director (a Trinity teacher) will talk to you about your interests, suggest activities in which you might wish to become involved, and give you a House T-shirt!
