Our Application Process
We look forward to receiving your application for a place in the College. We offer day places from Preschool to 6th Year. We offer 5- and 7- day boarding from age 10. The application processes for each of Preschool, Junior School and Senior School are set out on this page.
Our Admissions Policy
In line with the Education (Admission to Schools) Act 2018, our Admissions Policies set out the criteria on which decisions about admission will be made. The timeline for applications to 1st Year of the Senior School is set out each year in our Annual Admissions Notice.
We are happy to accept applications at any time for a place in our Preschool or our Junior School for girls aged 3-12. Boarding places are available from 10 years of age.
Available places will be allocated in accordance with the selection criteria set out in our Junior School Admissions Policy. Offers will be made in writing one year before the desired entry date. Any offer made is conditional on receipt of your confirmation of acceptance and payment of a deposit in full before the date set out in your offer letter. We offer day, and 5-day or 7-day boarding in the Senior School. We are building a beautiful new Residence House at the heart of our Campus in Milltown and are delighted to have additional 5- and 7-day boarding places available in all years for September.
We are happy to accept applications at any time for a place in years other than 1st Year. The application process for places in 1st Year is in line with the Education (Admission to Schools) Act 2018 and is set out below.
Any available places will be allocated in accordance with the selection criteria set out in our Senior School Admissions Policy. Places in 1st Year - September
If before 1 February, you were offered, accepted and paid a deposit for a place in 1st Year for September, the Education (Admission to Schools) Act will have no impact on your place. We look forward to welcoming you to Alexandra College.
Day places in 1st Year are now full for September. Boarding places are still available. We look forward to receiving your application for a place in the boarding school.
Places in 1st Year - September
If before 1 February, you applied for a place for September, you have been added to a waiting list. In November of the year before your year of entry, places will be offered to those on that waiting list on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be no need for you to re-apply. Offers will not be made before the date set out in the Annual Admissions Notice.
New applications for 1st Year day places in September will open in October. New applications for 1st Year day boarding places in September will open in October.
If you wish to apply for September, or when the application window opens, please submit an Expression of Interest form so that we can keep you up to date with College news, invitations to our Open Day, and so that we can send you the Annual Admissions Notice for the relevant year as soon as it is published.
Places in 1st Year - from September
Alexandra College may not accept Applications for Admission for day places in 1st Year before 1 October in the year before the proposed year of admission and may not accept Applications for Admission for boarding places in 1st Year before 1 October two years before the proposed date of entry. Any application made outside of the application period will be treated as an expression of interest only.
Details of the application period and the process for applying will be set out in an Annual Application Notice which will be posted on our website and through the College’s social media channels in mid-September of each year.
If you wish to apply for September or any subsequent year when the application window opens, please submit an Expression of Interest form so that we can keep you up to date with College news, invitations to our Open Day, and so that we can send you the Annual Admissions Notice for the relevant year as soon as it is published.
Please note: If before February, you applied for a place in September or any later year, you will need to apply again in October of the year before your desired entry date. Your initial application will be considered an expression of interest only. The date of your original application will have no relevance. Any application fee already paid will be transferred to your new application. Please do complete an Expression of Interest form so that we can keep in touch.
Deposit
Alexandra College is a fee paying school. We charge those to whom an offer is made a deposit to secure the place. Please see our Fee Terms and Conditions for more information.
