Canadian Applicants

You are a Canadian/Domestic applicant if you are a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident of Canada residing inside or outside of Canada.

Apply to Seneca

Step 1

Visit OntarioColleges.ca (OCAS) and start your application by creating an account. With your application, you can choose up to five programs at any of the 24 Ontario colleges, and up to three programs at Seneca.

Shortcut: Select the “Apply Now - Canadian Applicants” button on any Seneca program page to create an OCAS account, and apply directly to that program. You can add more choices later by logging into your account at OCAS.

Step 2

We will receive and acknowledge your application by email about 24 hours after you apply. We will send you your Seneca Student ID and information about how to set up your Seneca online services.

  • Follow the status of your application in your Seneca online Student Home.
  • Watch for important emails and letters from Seneca Admissions that provide specific instructions and tasks that you must complete to qualify for your program.
  • If you are asked to submit your transcripts, attend the pre-admission test, submit your portfolios or complete writing samples online, please ensure to follow up as quickly as possible.

Step 3

If you are a successful applicant, we will notify you of your Offer of Admission by mail and email. You will also see your offer in your OCAS account. To hold a seat in your program, you must confirm your Offer of Admission at OCAS by the due date noted on your Offer of Admission letter.

Step 4

Once you confirm your offer, you will receive information about your fees, including a deadline to pay the $500 non-refundable tuition deposit. To be guaranteed a seat, you must pay your deposit by the deadline.

Academic Requirements

Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma

To qualify for certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programs, you must have transcripts showing that you have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or the equivalent, or you must be a mature applicant.

You will also need to achieve minimum grades in certain prerequisite subjects or courses at the (C) college preparatory level. Program-specific prerequisite courses are listed with the admission requirements on each program page. The minimum grade for prerequisite courses is 50% unless stated otherwise.

Graduate Certificate Programs

To qualify for graduate certificate programs, you must have transcripts showing that you have completed an Ontario college or university degree, diploma or the equivalent.

Degree Programs

To qualify for degree programs, you must have transcripts showing that you have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or the equivalent with a minimum of six courses at the university (U) preparatory or mixed college/university (M) level and a minimum average of 65%, or you must be a mature applicant.

You will also need to achieve minimum grades in certain prerequisite subjects or courses at the (U) university preparatory or (M) mixed level. Program-specific prerequisite courses are listed with the admission requirements on each program page. The minimum grade for degree prerequisite courses is 65% unless stated otherwise.

Accelerated or Articulated Programs

To qualify for accelerated or articulated programs where you can complete a diploma in fewer than the usual number of semesters, you must have transcripts showing that you have completed a postsecondary credential such as a university or college degree or diploma. Prerequisite programs and courses are listed.

Additional (non-academic) Admission Requirements

Some programs have additional non-academic requirements such as questionnaires, essays, portfolios, auditions or tests. Additional requirements are listed with admission requirements on program websites.

When you apply to a program that has additional requirements, we will contact you by mail and email with details of when and how to submit, and when and where to attend special on-campus sessions. If you live more than 100 km from the Greater Toronto commuting area, we can help arrange distance testing for you.

Additional requirements are mandatory. For some highly-competitive programs, additional requirements may determine the ranking of applicants. It is in your best interest to complete these requirements as soon as possible.

International Applicants

You are an international applicant if you are a citizen of another country and do not have permanent residency status in Canada.

Before you apply, please ensure you have all the necessary documents to support your application.

How to Apply

Start your application

  • Open International Student Web Application
  • Create an account or sign in via your Facebook, Google or Twitter account
  • Complete your personal information
  • Review available programs by semester
  • Identify and select your English proficiency
  • Choose your start date, program choice(s) and the campus you wish to attend (Maximum 3 choices available)
  • Provide details on your academic history
  • Upload all required documents marked as required
  • Complete the Information Release form if you wish for Seneca to communicate with your trusted contacts
  • Review and print the "Review Application" page for your records
  • Use a debit or credit card to pay the $90 application fee
  • An email with your Seneca Student Home login details will be sent to the email address provided during the application process. Please access your Student Home for application updates.

Submitting additional information

  • You must submit all the required documents with your application. Your application will be assessed based on the information we have received. Sending information after you apply may result in your application being delayed or denied.
  • If you have information that you believe will assist our review, send it as an email attachment to [email protected]. Include your name and Seneca ID or your Application-Confirmation Number “55-xxxx-xxxxx” in the subject of the email.
  • Before scanning and submitting any additional documents, please write your Seneca ID or Application-Confirmation Number “55-xxxx-xxxxx” or Seneca ID on the top of all documents to make it easier for us to match them with your application.
  • If we need clarification for any of your documents, we will email you. You are advised to check your email regularly. There are a number of professional programs for which we will require a credential assessment from a recognized agency such as World Education Services (WES). We will inform you by email if that is the case.
  • Some programs also have additional non-academic requirements such as questionnaires, essays, portfolios, auditions or testing. Additional requirements are listed under admission requirements of each program page. When you apply to a program that has additional requirements, we will contact you by email with details of how to submit the additional documents. If testing is required, you will need to arrange an invigilator. Your admissions adviser will work directly with your invigilator to send and receive your test and results.

Academic Requirements

Admission requirements vary by level and program. In addition to English proficiency, programs may require credits in mathematics, biology, chemistry at a level equivalent to Ontario’s curriculum, or a postsecondary degree or diploma, equivalent to an Ontario university or college.

Degree Programs

When applying to a Seneca degree program you must submit:

  • High school transcripts for grades 10, 11 and 12 showing all program specific pre-requisite courses.
  • Transcripts must include six (6) senior level courses equivalent to Ontario university preparatory credits with an overall average of 65%.
  • High school/secondary school diploma (certificate of completion).
  • You may submit transcripts or certificates for any completed university/postsecondary college courses or programs taken inside or outside of Canada.
  • Academic records that are in a language other than English must include an official/certified English translation.
  • Seneca reserves the right to verify submitted transcripts at any time. For courses and credentials earned inside of Canada, Seneca reserves the right to request original transcripts be sent directly to Seneca from the issuing institution. Applicants will be notified if this is needed.

Diploma Programs

When applying to a Seneca two- or three-year diploma program you must submit:

  • High school transcripts for grades 10, 11 and 12 showing all program specific pre-requisite courses.
  • High school/secondary school diploma (certificate of completion).
  • You may submit transcripts or certificates for any completed university/postsecondary college courses or programs taken inside or outside of Canada.
  • Academic records that are in a language other than English must include an official/certified English translation.
  • Seneca reserves the right to verify submitted transcripts at any time. For courses and credentials earned inside of Canada, Seneca reserves the right to request original transcripts be sent directly to Seneca from the issuing institution. Applicants will be notified if this is needed.
