How to Apply

Making an initial application for a place: In order to request a place at Caxton College we encourage you to visit our website complete our online application form.

Come to the Discover Us activities and events to get to know us better. We encourage you to request a place for your child at least one full year before their proposed date of entry. We cannot offer places if the classes are full. The application does not legally bind you to taking a place at Caxton College.

Applications do not confirm places as these are subject to availability. Places are offered on a first come first served basis. Where places are not available children will be added to the waiting list.

Enrolment

  • To reserve a place, you should first have made an application by sending the application form.
  • Where a place is offered and accepted, parents will complete the enrolment form electronically.
  • Once the enrolment form has been completed and received, parents will be charged the enrolment fee.

Before Starting

  • During the year we encourage you to attend the activities offered in the Discover Us programme.
  • All children enrolled to start in Nursery will have a one to one meeting with a member of the Primary Senior Leadership team.
  • A meeting is held in June for all new parents of Baby Caxton and Nursery children where you will receive an information booklet and hear more about the year ahead.
  • A further meeting is held before term starts at the beginning of September with class teachers and assistants. At this meeting you will hear about the day to day running of Baby Caxton and Nursery, the curriculum and important dates for your diary.

Reception and Primary/Secondary

How to Apply

In order to request a place at Caxton College we encourage you to complete our online application form, where you will be asked to send your child’s final school reports from the last two academic years.

Organise a visit

  • We encourage you to request a place for your child at least one full year before their proposed date of entry. We cannot offer places in year groups where the classes are full.
  • Applications do not confirm places as these are subject to availability. Places are offered on a first come first served basis. Where places are not available children will be added to the waiting list.
  • If your child is placed on our waiting list we will contact you in the event that a place becomes available

Entrance Tests And Interview

  • If places are available in your child’s year group we will arrange a mutually convenient time for them to come to school to sit entrance tests. The entrance tests will be administered by a member of the Primary teaching staff. Students entering from Year 7 to Year 10 will sit entrance tests in English, Maths and Science.
  • If, due to distance, you are unable to organise for your child to come to school to take entrance tests, we can arrange for these to be taken at their current school.
  • On the day of testing your child will meet the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher for a short chat.
  • If your child sits the entrance tests at their current school we will later organise to meet them via video conference.

Acceptance And Enrolment

  • If your child has satisfactory entrance test results we will request a reference from their current school.
  • Places are offered subject to satisfactory entrance test results and references.
  • Where a place is offered and accepted, parents will complete the online enrolment form.
  • Once the enrolment form has been completed and received parents will be charged the enrolment fee.
  • Places in optional subjects in Year 10 are subject to availability. Some optional subjects require the student to have gained a grade A in their final Year 9 report.

Before Starting

An open morning takes place before the start of term which gives you and your child the opportunity to meet the Primary Leadership Team, receive some advice on settling into the school, meet the class teacher and see the classroom and the school grounds. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding the year ahead.

Entrance Tests And Interview

  • Students entering from another British school are not required to take entrance tests as they are offered provisional places subject to their final GCSE grades. We have a strict entry policy and most subjects will require a B grade at GCSE whilst Maths requires an A grade.
  • Students entering from other education systems are required to sit entrance tests in the subjects that they wish to take at A level as well as in English language. They must be awarded a B grade pass in these subjects to be able to gain a place on our A level courses, except in Maths where they will be expected to gain a grade A.
  • If, due to distance, you are unable to come to school to take entrance tests, we can arrange for these to be taken at your current school.
  • On the day of testing you will meet a member of the Senior Leadership Team for a short chat.
  • If you sit the entrance tests at your current school we will later organise to meet you via video conference.

  • Once the enrolment form has been completed and received, the enrolment fee will be charged.

Before Starting

In order to welcome you to the Sixth Form and to prepare for the year ahead, an Induction Morning takes place before the start of term. This offers you the opportunity to meet with the Secondary Leadership Team, your tutor, other members of the Sixth Form, and to visit the classrooms and school grounds. This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding your first year at Caxton College.
