NIS is an inclusive school which welcomes students of all abilities and backgrounds, providing a supportive and international environment for your child to grow in.

We understand how hard choosing a school can be. Parents are welcome to contact or visit the school at any time.

What Grade Is My Child In?

NIS registers students in age-appropriate year groups in accordance with KHDA guidelines. KG1 students registering for this academic year must be 4 years old by 31 August.

If you are moving to Dubai from overseas you can use our full worldwide grade comparison chart to understand what the correct grade for your child is.

Admissions Meetings

Please note: Applications must be completed before joining an admissions meeting.

Our admissions meetings are designed to enable us to understand what your child needs to thrive, and will give you the chance to get to know the school. To best meet and understand learner needs, our teachers will engage prospective students in a range of activities which are appropriate for their age and stage of development. In the older years, we need to ensure the child’s English language level is sufficient to meet the demands of the curriculum.

Securing Your Child’s Place

Once you receive an offer, you have 10 days to complete registration and to pay the registration fee to secure your place. The registration fee is 2,300 AED and the assessment fee is 500 AED. Both fees are deductible from the first term’s school fees.

Your Child’s First Day at School

The school fees should be paid for the term before the first day of school. Placement of our students in their new class is carried out by our senior team, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and abilities to match them with the best teacher for them. Before term begins you will be issued with a parent handbook and invited to familiarization events with your child. We look forward to welcoming you on your first day!

Documents Required for Registration

  • Color copy of child’s Emirates ID (the original is required when signing the KHDA Parent Contract)

As a learning-focused school, we want to welcome all students to our school and put their needs above all. We ask prospective parents to help us achieve this by sharing any relevant information about their child with our admissions team so that we can ensure your child has a positive experience from the moment they step inside our school.

Recommend us to your friends

At NIS Dubai, we recognize that parents and friends are the best ambassadors for our unique style of learning and community-minded environment. To support this, we are rewarding all enrolled families a percentage off your child’s tuition fee if you refer a friend to join NIS Dubai.

English Language Instruction

NIS delivers an American curriculum (AERO) to students in English. Language proficiency in KG is not used as a criterion for admissions. In Elementary, Middle and High School, English language proficiency is assessed to ensure students can access the curriculum and progress to the best of their ability.

Additional Learning Requirements

NIS is an inclusive school, for gifted students and those with additional educational needs. We provide differentiation and additional learning support based on the student’s needs and academic levels. Parents should inform the school at the application stage regarding any additional learning support requirements for their child. We may request copies of external documents such as professional assessments, individual learning plans, and one-to-one learning requirements. Please be advised that extra learning support may incur additional costs to the parents.

Behavior

NIS believes good student behavior is fundamental in enabling the best learning experience possible, for the student and for their classmates. All students enrolled at the school should have a positive attitude towards learning and respect for the school community.

Twin Siblings

NIS embraces and respects the individuality of each child. We will always call our multiple-birth children by their individual names and take care in assessing them individually. Where possible, siblings will be placed in different classes.

Medical Records

The school requires current and accurate information regarding your child’s medical requirements. It is the parents’ responsibility to notify the school of any change in circumstances. Our school clinic requires records of previous medical treatments, allergies, and immunizations upon registration.

Staff Children

Staff children are guaranteed a school place (subject to the terms of our admissions policy) but must still complete an enrollment form and supply requested documentation.

Waiting Lists

Where a year group is at capacity, a child may be placed on the waiting list. The parent will be contacted if a place becomes available, and if a place is offered it must be accepted within 10 days.

Re-registration

To secure their place for the next academic year, parents will be asked to pay a re-enrollment fee of 10% of the annual tuition fees. This is non-refundable, however adjustable against the first semester fee. Please refer to the school fees schedule.

This policy is reviewed on an annual basis by the School Principal and the Head of Admissions. This will be updated should new policies be issued by Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
