We will be hosting a number of virtual events for families to get to know Branksome Hall and our community. Please visit our Key Dates & Open Houses Page to learn more about these opportunities that will be held via Zoom over the fall and winter months.
Interview
Once your application is submitted, you will have the opportunity to book a virtual interview and pay the application fee through our online booking system. A member of our Admissions team will first interview the applicant, then parents will be invited in for the family interview portion.
Student Assessment
Students from JK-Grade 6 are tested holistically using the most current developmental tools. Applicants to Grade 7 are asked to prepare a portfolio of graded school work and personal accomplishments to present during the interview. Assessments of math and English levels will be administered for applicants in Grades 9 - 11. More details of these assessments will be shared prior to the interview.
Admissions Decisions
Applications are due on December 1and day school admissions decisions will be communicated on the last Friday of February. Boarding applications are accepted on a rolling basis and admissions decisions are communicated upon the completion of the full process, typically between January to March.

The Admissions Office is open at noon on select Fridays for you to drop in and learn more about the admissions process, including grade-level assessment plans and financial assistance opportunities for Grade 7 - 11.

JK & SK
Families who are applying for JK and SK will have a Zoom interview with a member of our admissions team. Students will not be directly questioned during the interview.
Grades 1-4
A member of our Admissions team will first interview the applicant over Zoom and then parents will be invited for the family interview portion. No preparation is necessary, as it is an opportunity for us to connect and get to know prospective students and their families.
Grades 5 & 6
Please note that Grades 5 and 6 are not entry years and spaces are attrition dependent. We do not conduct a full admissions process until we have confirmed openings. Applications are encouraged in the event spaces become available. Should we move forward with the application, an admissions member will be in contact to schedule your interview.
Assessments
Our student assessments take into consideration the age and stage of each applicant while exploring the reading, writing, math and critical thinking proficiencies. We will be in touch with each applicant's family to provide information on our assessment plans for this year of virtual admissions. We typically conduct our assessments in January and will update families during the application process.
Preparing For Your Interview
Local students applying for Grade 7 are asked to prepare a portfolio of graded school work and personal accomplishments to present during the interview. Students can create a virtual portfolio to share in advance or during the virtual interview, or they may simply share articles during the virtual interview by holding items to the camera and describing for the interviewer. We want the portfolio to be an “All About Me” sharing of information that allows the interviewer to learn more about each student.

Grade 9-11 applicants are required to either write our Branksome Hall Math and English Entrance Testsorsubmit their results of the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test). For more information on writing the SSAT, please visit the theSSAT website, and book your test to be written by January 21. Students interested in the Branksome Hall Entrance Tests will complete the English portion during their interview and a separate date will be shared for the Math Test.
For all grade 11 applicants
The Math curriculum in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (Grades 11 and 12 at Branksome Hall) is advanced and requires that students complete their Ontario Grade 11 Functions Math credit (MCR3U) before starting at Branksome Hall in September. There are many options for students to complete this credit and the Admissions team will be pleased to guide applicants through this requirement. Teacher Recommendation Forms
All boarding applicants must have their teachers complete and submit both a Math Teacher and English Teacher recommendation form.
