Admissions Information

The admissions process helps prospective students and their families become more familiar with Webber Academy, and assists the school in learning more about an applicant. The nurturing, energetic environment at Webber Academy is such that: bright students who are keen to accept the challenge of an enriched academic programme, have a positive attitude, are eager to work collaboratively with others in a wide variety of activities, and develop a strong sense of citizenship, will thrive in the Webber community. Siblings of existing students are given preference over other candidates as long as they meet the entrance requirements.

School Tours

Several small group tours are scheduled throughout the school year to accommodate interested families who would like to see Webber Academy in action during a regular school day. Tours typically last up to an hour and a half. Space is limited and you must reserve spots for these tours by emailing our Admissions office at vgrenier@webberacademy.ca. Please indicate the number of people attending along with a contact phone number, grade level and academic year that you are interested in, e.g. Grade 7 for this year (If you are unable to attend a tour which you have booked a place on, please let us know).

Admissions Testing

Webber Academy prepares students "to thrive in university and beyond." As such, when screening applicants, the school is seeking children who are demonstrating levels of potential, performance, and character that likely match this end. Experience has shown that students who do not meet certain standards in these areas are not successful at our school, even though there may have been past successes in other less intense learning environments.

Classroom Visits

Local candidates who score within the expected admission guidelines will then be invited to attend a classroom visit at Webber Academy. Distance / international applicants who are unable to attend a classroom visit will be expected to arrange for our Confidential School Report to be completed by their current teacher and/or principal.

Acceptance

Once the above steps are complete, the Admissions team will review the application. Admissions decisions are made with the best interests of the student in mind and are based on a combination of the application, report card marks, entrance test scores, interviews, and teacher recommendations. It is our policy to advise prospective families of acceptance or non-acceptance as quickly as possible. Qualified applicants for whom there are no positions available will be placed on the waiting list.

International Applications

We welcome international applications to all grades from JK to 12. The application process is the same as described above, however, students will need to demonstrate proficiency in English appropriate to the grade for which they are seeking a placement, and will need to be able to fully participate in classroom instruction. Webber Academy does not have English as a Second Langauge (ESL) or English Language Learner (ELL) programs. Depending on residency / visa status, international students may be subject to an additional tuition charge - please see the section on 'Fee Structure' under Admissions.
