Application Process

Admission decisions are made with the best interest of all students in mind, and are based on a combination of each student's application and the academic programming at GCA. Applications for Kindergarten to Grade 9 are online through myGCA. The application for Junior Kindergarten can be downloaded here. There is a requisite $200 application fee as a part of the process. Other documentation will be required including a copy of the student's most recent report card, and a copy of his/her birth certificate. If your child was born outside of Canada, we require both the birth certificate and the residency card (Visa, Permanent Resident Card, etc.).

If there is space in the grade that you have applied for, you will be contacted by the Director of Admissions to arrange for an appointment and academic assessment for your child. Please note: if there is no space in that grade, your application will be placed on a wait list.

Students will undergo an academic assessment appropriate to the grade level they are applying for with a certified teacher. The teacher will then review the assessment and provide detailed results to the principals. The assessment, along with the student's report card marks will then be reviewed. If an assessment is successful, the family will be contacted to arrange for an interview with the Head of School. Successful applicants will then receive a registration package.

Uniform Requirements

At GCA, we have both "official" uniform items, and "casual" uniform items. Every Monday is an "official uniform" day. All of our uniform pieces are to be purchased at Top Marks. During the school year, Top Marks has "fit days" where they will come to the school and you can have your student measured for uniform items. Please visit here for our uniform requirements. Download our Top Marks Uniform Order Package.

International Students

International students are considered on a case by case basis. We do not offer boarding facilities, nor does the province of Alberta offer funding for these students. Students would also need to have a legal guardian in Calgary. We cannot offer acceptance before all necessary steps of the admission process have been completed. Assessments and interviews need to be in person and cannot be done remotely.

You are welcome to submit an application, but students must be in the city to complete the admissions process. This includes an academic assessment for grades 1 to 9 and a required family interview.
