Once an Application Form and $200 non-refundable application fee are received, we will guide you through the following five step application process. The following five steps can be completed in any order.
This is an informal interview that is 15-20 minutes in length and is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and for you to learn more about Merrick Preparatory School. Interviews can be conducted in person, over the telephone, via Skype, WhatsApp, WeChat, C’Me, FaceTime, Zoom, or any other medium that is convenient.
We require report cards for the current in-progress academic year, along with the final report card from grade 8 if applying to grade 9; grade 9 if applying to grade 10; grade 9 and 10 if applying to grade 11; grade 9, 10, 11 if applying to grade 12; grade 9, 10, 11, 12 if applying to the University Qualification Year.
Applicants must submit a 300-word personal profile in their own handwriting outlining their academic goals and interests, extracurricular activities, community involvement and areas of distinction.
The Confidential Reference must be completed by the applicant’s Principal or English teacher and submitted directly to Merrick Preparatory School. We will provide you with the Confidential Reference form once the Application Form has been received.
This is a 30-minute timed English language test. The instructions will be provided once the Application Form has been received.
The steps of the Application Process may be executed in any order once the application form is received. Once all five (5) admissions requirements have been met, the selection committee will review and evaluate your application. The committee will make a decision within 24 hours of receiving the final application requirement, and within 48 hours you will be notified of the selection committee’s decision.
While we do accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the year, we have restrictions on when students can join our program and earn credits towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.Students arriving four weeks after the start of a semester will be able to audit courses but are too late to earn credits. We do not allow students to join the school after April 1.
