LPS is a four year preparatory high school owned and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). Its primary purpose is to train and encourage young people for the pastoral and teaching ministry in the WELS. In carrying out that purpose, LPS offers a curriculum that focuses on history, mathematics, science, English, foreign languages, music, and religion. LPS also offers a wide variety of co-curricular activities in music, performing arts, and athletics.

Once we receive your application, we will send recommendation forms to your pastor and your grade school principal. We will also request your most report card and scores from any standardized test you have taken. Prior to your acceptance, you will also be asked to take a High School Placement Test. This test is administered at LPS in January and April. For those who cannot make it to LPS for the test, we will arrange for the test to be administered near your home. After you are accepted, you will receive information about financial assistance and other details to prepare you for the start of school.
Application for enrollment at LPS may be made at any time during the year preceding the start of school. To assist us in our planning, we ask that applications be made as soon as possible. There is no application fee. Applications may be filled out online or application forms may be requested by contacting:
Director of Admissions
If you are applying for admission to Luther Prep you must be a member of a WELS or ELS congregation or must be in process of becoming a member. By the time you actually attend classes, you should be a confirmed member of your congregation and must have successfully completed the 8th grade.
After we receive your application, we will send recommendation forms to your pastor and grade school principal (if you attended a Lutheran elementary school). These recommendations, as well as standardized test scores and grades, must be received by the school before a student is admitted. Ninth grade applicants will also need to take the High School Placement Test. This test is administered on our campus in January and March/April. For students who are not able to take the test on campus, arrangements can be made to take the test near your home.
If you are transferring into the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, ask your current school to send your high school transcript to LPS. Transfer students are not required to take the placement test.
Once you have been accepted, you will be asked to furnish other information, such as health records and various types of parental permission forms. You will also receive information during the summer regarding housing, meals, and dormitory policies.
All students must be current in their required immunizations or have a signed waiver prior to the start of the school year. LPS requests that the school be notified as soon as possible if a student who has applied decides to attend school elsewhere.
