Applications

North Country School accepts applications on a rolling basis

  • There are no application fees
  • If space is available, qualified students can enroll midyear
  • We welcome applications from five-day boarding students

We recommend that families complete the application process by March 1. After March 1, we continue to accept applications, space permitting.

A completed application includes

  • A child’s application form
  • School records
  • Recommendations: English Teacher, Math Teacher, Principal/Counselor
  • An on-campus or virtual interview

Step One

To begin the application process, create a Family Portal profile, then complete the online application. Save your log-in information as you will need to return to the Family Portal throughout the application and enrollment process.

Step Two

After submitting the application, return to the Family Portal and click on “Continue Admissions Process” (blue button in example below) to access the application checklist.

Step Three

To submit English Teacher, Math Teacher, and Principal/Counselor recommendations, click on the appropriate blue “Send Request” button. You will be asked to enter the contact information for each recommender. The item will appear as checked once the recommender has submitted their recommendation to the admissions office.

To submit grades/transcript

  • Download the “Request for School Records” form by clicking on the link.
  • Sign the form and submit it to your child’s school.
  • Once the admissions office has received the transcript, the Grades/Transcript item will appear as checked.

You are also welcome to upload electronic copies of the school records by clicking on the “upload” button or you can email them to the admissions office at admissions@northcountryschool.org.

Step Four

If applicable, the following items may be uploaded directly into the Family Portal or emailed to the admissions office.

  • Standardized Test Scores
  • Educational testing/counseling documents
  • ESL test scores
  • Copy of passport page (required for international students)

International applications

North Country School welcomes students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Our community is enriched by children from countries around the world, children who have lived abroad, and children for whom English is not a first language. International students are active participants in the North Country School community and take part in all aspects of the academic, art, farm, outdoor, and residential programs. North Country School is authorized to issue I-20s for students who need an F-1 visa to attend school in the US.

Both our domestic and international students benefit from our secondary school placement program in which 9th-grade students are guided through the process of selecting and applying to highly selective boarding schools for grades 10-12.

Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides support for students who are non-native English speakers. These applicants are encouraged to submit TOEFL Junior, TOEFL iBT, and/or SSAT test scores as part of their application (TOEFL code B088).

As part of the North Country School application process, all students have either a Skype/Zoom interview or an on-campus interview. Information about travel to North Country School is available on our Visit page.
