Pre-School Admissions (3-4)

Children who join Fulneck School in our Primary School enjoy a through school education until they are 18 and are not required to sit any further assessments to enter the Senior School.

Pre-school is the beginning of the Fulneck educational journey. Children can be welcomed into Fulneck from the beginning of the term after which they turn three years of age and embark on an amazing journey of learning, discovery and fun.

Prospective families are encouraged to contact us to arrange for a personalised tour during which you will see the excellent facilities we enjoy, meet current staff and pupils and meet with the Head of Pre-school.

For children so young we are simply looking for the potential to learn, thrive and be happy with in our very special school. Our aim is to ensure that Fulneck is the right environment for your child to flourish.

Applications can be made throughout the year.

If you would like to arrange a visit or require any further information, please contact our Admissions Team on 0 113 257 0235. Alternatively register your interest by filling out our contact form and a member of the admissions team will be in touch.

Primary School Admissions (age 4-11)

From their very first days at Fulneck School we get to know each child and encourage them to develop their individual strengths. We nurture a strong sense of being valued both as an individual and as a member of our community.

Our Primary School (Age 3-11) is a wonderful learning environment which we encourage you to visit and see for yourselves. We are committed to small class sizes and individual care and we would be delighted to hear from Parents who want their children to join.

Every day is an Open Day and the best way to appreciate all that our wonderful Junior School has to offer is to come and see the School for yourself. We are always happy to show new families around and you can arrange a tour with our Admissions Manager.

We invite parents and children to have a tour of the school. We are simply looking for the potential to learn, thrive and be happy with in our very special school.

Depending on the year which your child is looking at entering, they may be asked to complete an English assessment and a cognitive ability test which are enormously helpful to us in knowing how best to meet their needs. Our aim is to ensure that Fulneck is the right environment for your child to flourish.

Applications are welcome throughout the year and references from previous schools are always sought.

Please contact us to discuss moving forward with an application, we understand that there are many questions when considering your choice of school and our Admissions Manager who will be happy to chat about any aspect of School life and admissions.

Senior School Admission to Year 7

Parents comment on the difference they see in their child soon after beginning at Fulneck School; they say their child seems more calm, confident and self-assured. We would agree, and would add that this is owing to the small family feel of the school where children receive a first-rate education in its broadest sense.

We are a selective independent school, and we are looking for pupils who will thrive in our beautiful learning environment, work hard and do their best. Our pupils are well behaved, respectful, and considerate of others with excellent attitudes to learning.

Pupils looking to join the senior school are invited to visit one of the school open days and attend a taster day. They will then be invited to sit an entrance assessment which takes place in December of their Year 6. The pupils will also be interviewed by a member of our dedicated and caring staff and parents will also have the opportunity to speak with a senior member of staff and meet the Principal.

We are looking for pupils who have a good attitude to learning and will contribute all that Fulneck School has to offer.

To register for the entrance assessment please complete the application form below.

Alternatively contact our Admissions Team using the contact form below or telephone for a discussion on 0113 2570235.

Sixth Form Admissions

We warmly invite both current and prospective students to our 6th Form Open Evening, taking place on 7th November from 6.30pm-8pm.

Here, parents and students will get to hear from our Principal, Head of Sixth Form, and Head of Curriculum about everything that 6th Form at Fulneck has to offer; from small class sizes and seminar-style learning, to personalised support with further education and careers, to school fundraising, leadership, and extra-curricular.

Soteria Admissions

Soteria (Greek: Σωτηρία) was the goddess of safety and represents protection from harm. Fulneck School’s specialist autism unit sits alongside the main school providing highly skilled and specialist one to one tuition enabling all pupils to reach their potential.

Admissions to Soteria are similar to our normal admissions process unless the applicant has an Education Health Care plan (EHCP). In the case of the applicant has an EHCP, parents / guardians will need to name Fulneck School as their preferred option as a school. The Local Authority will then consult with our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) who has 14 days to response. The SENCo will meet with the prospective pupil and arrange for any taster days to evaluate and determine if we are able to meet their needs.

If you would like to apply for a place in our Soteria, please contact our friendly admissions team who will be able
to provide you with all the information you need and arrange for you to visit us.

Mid Year Applications

We are happy to accept applications from pupils for places mid-schooling.

We accept a number of pupils each year who have either moved to the area or who are looking for a more suitable school for their needs and aims.

If there are available places in the required year group we would invite pupils for an assessment and an interview with the Principal. We would always seek to obtain a reference from the pupil’s current school.

Applicants are usually tested in English together with a cognitive ability test which is enormously helpful to us to ensure we are able to meet their needs.

Offers of places are made to successful candidates shortly after their visits.

Bursaries are not available for intermediate entry and successful mid-year applicants will be offered a place on a full fee-paying basis.

If you would like to arrange for a personalised tour or would like to find out more, please contact our friendly Admissions team using the links below.

If you would like to arrange an assessment for your child, please complete the registration form (available to download below) and we will contact you to arrange a suitable time.

International Applications

We welcome applications from pupils seeking to board at Fulneck School from overseas and from the UK.

We would ask parents to contact the school to discuss the admissions process which typically involves completing a registration form followed by the pupil undertaking an informal ‘Zoom’ interview with the Principal about their interests, hobbies and aspirations.

A formal assessment would then be undertaken, and the school would put these arrangements in place before an offer being made.
