Greetings From Lyndon Institute

Thank you for visiting our website to explore what Lyndon has to offer. The experiences you will have at our school will change your life. Lyndon provides opportunities to both foster your passions and discover new ones, from traditional subjects and sports like Chemistry and Soccer, to the distinctive Vail Scholars Program and Mountain Biking.

Whether a student is getting hands-on experience in the classroom, in the workshop, on the playing fields, or in extracurricular activities, we believe that students learn "by doing" and we strive to offer multiple opportunities for our students to create, discover, make, build, and explore. For examples, please view our General Brochure, Course Catalog, and January Term curriculum.

Our Admissions team will be happy to speak to you personally and welcome questions about our school. If you would like to learn more about Lyndon Institute you can contact us by email at admissions@lyndoninstitute.org or by phone at 802-535-3700 or 844-277-1646 (toll-free). If you would like to visit our school, shadow a student, or take a tour of our campus, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Shadow Days And Campus Tours

One of best ways to get to know Lyndon Institute is to experience it first-hand, a shadow day or campus tour can be arranged. This gives prospective students a glimpse of "a day in the life of LI." Guests enjoy attending classes, exploring our campus, and spending break and lunch with their host.

Prospective students may schedule a shadow day by calling 535-3700 or email admissions@lyndoninstitute.org. Incoming freshmen are encouraged to participate in our Meet and Greet Day in the spring.

Attend Our Annual Open House

Typically the first Wednesday evening in November Lyndon Institute welcomes prospective students and their families to our Lyndon Center campus for our annual Open House. The event provides an opportunity for those students who are already enrolled or those who are considering enrolling at Lyndon Institute to explore the campus and to learn more about our offerings.

Those in attendance enjoy campus tours, a complimentary dinner, and the opportunity to connect with the Lyndon Institute faculty and staff to learn more about the school’s programs and offerings while visiting classrooms and engaging in learning demonstrations presented by current faculty and students. We hope you will join us!

  • Signed contract (copy)
  • Information packet: academic schedule, important dates, vacation/travel information

Form I-20

You must use the Form I-20 provided by Lyndon Institute to pay the SEVIS I-901 fee and apply for the correct student visa. Be sure to check your Form I-20 against your passport information to make sure your name and date of birth (DOB) are spelled and listed correctly. If any of this information is incorrect, you should notify the Lyndon Institute Admissions office and a corrected Form I-20 will be issued to you. The SEVIS I-901 fee is a requirement for all students seeking to enter the United States under F visas (Lyndon Institute students are issued F1 visas). For more information regarding visas please visit https://travel.state.gov.

VISA

After being accepted by Lyndon Institute and getting a receipt for payment of the SEVIS I-901 fee, you can apply for a visa at a U.S. Embassy or consulate. The following information is to serve as a guide, however, you should check the U.S. Department of State's website for the most current information.

Students should note that the student visa can be issued by the U.S. Embassy or consulate 120 days or less in advance of the date you will attend Lyndon Institute. You may apply more than 120 days in advance of your start date but the issuing agency will hold your visa until it is able to issue it to you.

Students should also note that the Department of Homeland Security regulations prohibit students coming to the United States for their initial time from entering any earlier than 30 days before their start date. This is important when making travel arrangements.

An interview is part of the application process for obtaining a student visa. Early application is encouraged as the waiting time for interviews can vary. The required documents that must be submitted in order to be issued a student visa are:

  • Form I-20
  • DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application
  • Passport (valid for 6 months beyond your expected stay)
  • One (1) 2”x2” photograph
  • Receipt to prove payment of the SEVIS I-901 fee

All applicants should also be prepared to provide your Lyndon Institute Acceptance Package, containing:

  • Transcripts
  • Scores from standardized tests such as TOEFL
  • Financial evidence that you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of tuition
  • Letter of Acceptance from Lyndon Institute

Medical Forms

While waiting for your student visa to be issued this is a good time to complete and return all of the documents required by Lyndon Institute. The forms include the Medical Release Form and the Medical Information and Parental Permission for Athletes Form. You may download all the forms.

Travel Arrangements

Once you have made your travel arrangements you should submit your arrival information to our International Student Coordinator, Sara O'Connor, at sara.oconnor@lyndoninstitute.org. Airport pick-ups and departures scheduled within the dates and times noted in the information pack are included in the fees. Any travel scheduled outside of dates and times noted in the information pack may result in additional travel charges.

Travel

Before you depart for the United States, you should familiarize yourself with your important travel documents. You should also make a minimum of two copies of each of these documents: one to give to Lyndon Institute Admissions Office and one to leave with your family. These documents should always be on your person, do not pack them into a checked bag. Here is a list of the vital documents:

  • Passport
  • Form I-20
  • Visa
  • Lyndon Institute Phone Numbers (last page in your Information packet)

It is also good practice to travel with the following documents:

  • Financial statement
  • SEVIS I-901 receipt
  • Letter of Acceptance
  • Any other documents necessary for issuance of visa

You will receive a Form I-94 onboard your flight entering the United States. This document will be stamped at entry and proves that you entered the United States legally. It also states how long you can legally remain in the United States. It is very important to present your I-94 to the Lyndon Institute Admissions Office upon your arrival so Lyndon Institute can have a copy on file.

Welcome

With the proper planning, your arrival should go smoothly. If there is a problem along the way make sure to contact Lyndon Institute immediately so we can help you. It has been a lengthy process but now you can relax and enjoy being a student at Lyndon Institute!
