Harbert Hills Academy

Harbert Hills Academy welcomes applications from students regardless of race, sex, religion, color, or national origin. Harbert Hills Academy provides outstanding preparation for success in academics, vocational training, spiritual development, as well as success and service in community, and church. Students on our campus enjoy a vibrant spiritual atmosphere rooted in a rich tradition of Seventh-day Adventist values.

Acceptance to Harbert Hills is granted by the Acceptance Committee, which reviews the student’s academic transcript, finances. Health and character will also be considered.

Interviews/Campus Visit

Interviews are required for admission to Harbert Hills for standard admissions, and homeschool admissions unless otherwise indicated; we require that both student, and parent read the Student Handbook for a complete understanding of our program.

Academic Transcripts

In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission, homeschool students must submit academic transcripts from the homeschool institution, documenting their academic experience.

Registration

All students will register on the dates indicated on the school calendar. The processing fee will be due upon the student’s arrival on campus. Any student who registers more than two (2) weeks late for either semester will be permitted to carry full work only at the discretion of the faculty.

International Students

In addition to the standard admission and financial requirements, international students must meet the requirements listed below.

Acceptance to Harbert Hills for international students is granted by the Acceptance Committee, which reviews the student’s academic transcript, finances, and English proficiency. Health and character will also be considered.

Interviews are not required for admission to Harbert Hills for international students unless indicated; we require that both student, and parent read the Student Handbook for a complete understanding of our program.

Finances

• Declaration of Finances form
• Letter from financial sponsor(s), including name, address, phone, and email.
• Copies of bank statements for last three months showing balance history for your account or your financial sponsor’s account
• International deposit of $2,000USD

Academic Transcripts

• Official transcripts of all schoolwork must be submitted to the registrar’s office.
• Certified English translations (not an interpretation) must accompany original transcripts in other languages.
• After academic documents are evaluated, international students are placed according to the United States education system.

Applying For Visa

International students must obtain an F-1 Student visa. Exception to this rule is enrolling as an R-2 classification, or if parents have filed for asylum. The requirements for obtaining an F-1 student visa are as follows:

• After receiving your I-20, use the SEVIS Student ID number located in the top right corner of the I-20, to pay the I-901 filing fee.
• After paying the I-901 filing fee, and printing receipt… you should then schedule your visa appointment at the nearest U.S. Embassy.
• You then obtain a (F-1) student visa by presenting the I-20, I-901 payment receipt, and Acceptance Letter at your scheduled visa appointment.

Travel

• Provide Harbert Hills with dates of planned arrival in the United States and at Harbert Hills Academy
• Photocopy of passport identification page

Student Visa Regulations

Students entering the United States on a student visa must:

• Provide evidence of financial resources for one academic year.
• Accept only on-campus employment of up to 20 hours per week after registration of classes.
• Report address changes within 10 days to the Records Office.
• United States immigration laws require that international students return to their home country after completing their university education.
