Admissions to SCA

We are a community that thrives on innovation, creativity and exploration. Our student body is diverse; collectively representing a wide range of beliefs, traditions which grants our campus its own unique culture.

Inside the classroom our students are presented with a progressive curriculum, driven faculty, and a true sense of community which strengthens their understanding and helps students develop a scholarly outlook. Outside the classroom, students bond by participating in small-scale and city-wide service projects, express their creativity through the arts, participate in international exchange programs, and compete in our nationally-ranked athletic program.

Students may choose to either board at the school in our historic dormitories or attend as day students. This year Springfield Commonwealth Academy is welcoming more students from around the world than ever before.

Admissions Process

Complete and Submit An Application Online

Families may also utilize the Standard Application Online produced by Enrollment Management Association (EMA). A nonrefundable fee of $25 must apply to your application. Upon acceptance this fee is credited to the fall enrollment balance.

Submit standardized test scores

All students applying to Springfield Commonwealth Academy (SCA) will need to submit recent standardized testing (e.g., MCAS, CMT’s CAPT’s, A-Net, PARCC or SSAT). Any test scores submitted should be dated within the last academic school year of the student's application to SCA. The SSAT is a standardized test used by private schools to measure academic aptitude at three academic levels: elementary, middle, and upper school.

Note: There is a charge for the SSAT. Please visit the website below for pricing. Additionally, students for whom English is not their first language must take the TOEFL. You can schedule the SSAT and the TOEFL.

Transcripts & Recomendations

Applicants should upload original copies of transcripts or report cards and attach them to their online application. Any transcript must include all grades from the current academic year. Additionally, letters of recommendation are required from one English or one Math teacher of the applicant's choosing. A third letter of recommendation from a coach, other teacher, or unrelated mentor may be submitted to support the prospective student.

Attend Open House and Interview

Applicants are encouraged to participate in our Open House events, tour the campus and participate in a personal interview. Please contact our admissions office to schedule a campus visit and secure a spot during our next Open House event.
