Greetings from the admissions office at Rock Point School! The intent of this section is to help steer you through the steps of admissions, applying, and answer those frequently asked questions.

If you are curious about who we serve, our students are self-aware, outside-the-box thinkers, who ask “why” in and out of class. Things may not have been easy for them in the past, but they are on an uphill climb, seeking meaning and purpose in their lives. They need the support and nurture of a school with wonderful peers and smart, authentic adults.

While web sites, brochures, and videos are a great first step in learning about a school, the best way to find out if Rock Point School is the right place for you is to come and visit. So, we invite you to visit us, meet our students and staff, see our campus and the greater Burlington area, and find out for yourself if Rock Point is the school for you. And come meet Bosley, the admissions dog!

Applying to Rock Point School

Finding just the right school for a student ensures the best chance for success. Our application process is personal, to ensure that Rock Point is the right school for you and that you’re the right student for Rock Point, ready to take advantage of the opportunities and support here. Request an admissions packet, fill out an application, email us, or give us a call, and we’ll help you get started.

Admissions are on a rolling basis year-round. Our staff is adept at helping mid-year arrivals jump right on board and get involved and engaged with our program. Students who arrive later in the regular year often opt to attend the summer session, to build their skills and connection to the school community as they head into the following year.

How to Apply

Step One: Explore our website

Viewing the photos, videos, and stories on our website is a good first step. It gives you a virtual window into our school.

Step Two: Request information or call to speak with our Admissions Director

If, after looking at the Rock Point School site, you are interested in getting more information, please request an admissions packet or call to schedule a visit. This would be a good time to talk about your child, his or her needs, and whether Rock Point School might be a good fit. Rock Point School uses a rolling admissions process. Our admissions director, Hillary Kramer, can be reached at (802) 863-1104, x 112, or [email protected].

Step Three: Schedule a tour and interview

We would love to have you come for a visit! Please call to schedule an interview and tour, and be ready to spend about three hours with us. If a student would like to shadow the program, an extended interview, lasting a day or two, can be arranged. (Please note that we don’t have visiting students stay with us overnight, so please plan to have your child stay in a local hotel with you.)

Step Four: Submit an application

If Rock Point School looks like a good option, please fill out our application form (below) and return it with the requested documentation, such as the Release of Information Form, a complete transcript, and copies of any appropriate testing. There is a $50 application fee. If you wish, you may submit the application before scheduling a visit.

Step Five: Timing of the admissions decision

Generally, an admissions decision takes about one week after receiving the complete application and having the interview. We make decisions on a a rolling admissions basis.

International Applicants

Having students from around the world join us at our school enhances our community. While we don’t actively recruit foreign students, we are lucky that some international students find us. When they come, these students are immersed in American culture and provided the support and structure of a small, caring school. If tutoring and ESL supports are needed, we can bring in these additional services for an extra fee.

To apply, please fill out our general application and provide us with your TOEFL scores. The application fee is $150 due to the extra costs of phone calls and mailings outside the United States. Contact Hillary Kramer, Admissions Director, at [email protected] with any questions.

Post-Grad Applicants

A Post-Graduate year at Rock Point School is a powerful way for students to build crucial skills, both academically and personally, and to make a strong statement to colleges that they are ready for college life and college-level work. Please see the Post Grad Year at RPS section for more details.

Our PG Year program is open to students who have recently received their high school diploma and who are looking for an opportunity to build key skills in a supportive community. PG students receive the same support for college applications, and other post-high school planning, as our seniors do (please see College Counseling).

To apply, please follow the general application process shown in the How to Apply section above and contact Hillary Kramer at [email protected] with any questions.
