My colleagues and I will make the application process as straightforward as possible. We are always available if you need to talk, clarify anything, or learn more about the School.

Arrange a Visit
Every enquiry and application to King Edward’s Witley is treated individually and we aim to make the process straightforward and easy for your family.

We are delighted that you are considering King Edward’s Witley for your child. We would be happy to arrange for you to visit us and there are several ways to visit and to experience first hand our warm, friendly culture and find out more about our supportive education and pastoral programme.

Open Days
For a first visit, we recommend coming to one of our Open Days and we aim to keep these events smaller so that visitors are able to really talk to staff and pupils.

UK Applicants
Welcome to King Edward’s. We hope to make your decision to join us for senior school as simple as possible. Prospective pupils and their families are always welcome to visit the School either by attending an Open Morning or by arranging an individual visit. This will normally involve a meeting with our Head, Mrs Joanna Wright, or with the Director of Admissions and taking a tour of the School with a pupil. Either option may be arranged by Jacky or Melissa in the Admissions Office who can be reached via admissions@kesw.org or on +44 (0)1428 686735.

Pupils normally join the School at Year 7 (11+), Year 9 (13+) or Sixth Form (16+).
A pupil must be registered to be eligible to take the School entrance examination. Families interested in admission are requested to register by returning a King Edward’s Witley application form together with a non-returnable registration fee of £150 to the Admissions Office. Cheques should be made payable to King Edward’s School Witley. Alternatively, please call our Fees Officer, Lorraine McFadden, on +44(0)1428 686794 to pay by credit card.

Entry at Year 7 (11+)
You may register your child at any time following your initial enquiry. However, we recommend the ideal time to be one year prior to entry. We ask that you register your child by 1st November prior to the year of entry.

All registered pupils are automatically invited to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test which may take place at your child’s current school (date chosen by the school) or at King Edward’s in the December prior to the year of entry. For 11+ entry we will hold the test at King Edward’s in December .

The test includes Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics.

Prior to testing, your child’s current school is contacted to request a report on their progress and potential. Places are offered on the basis of the test results, the school report and the informal interview.

Entry at Year 9 (13+) Pre-Testing option and Standard Entry
For the Pre-Testing option, you may register your child at any time following your initial enquiry. However, we recommend at least three years prior to entry as we pre-test candidates two and a half years prior to entry (in Year 6).

For the Pre-Testing option, the ISEB Pre-Test is usually taken at your child’s current school between November and January in Year 6. Prior to testing, your child’s current school is contacted to request a report on their progress and potential. Pre-Tested places are offered on the basis of the test results, an informal interview and the School report. Children are still required to sit Common Entrance. For 13+ entry in the deadline is 1st November .

For the Standard Entry option, pupils will sit the King Edward’s entrance test in the December prior to the year of entry. This can be sat at the pupil’s school or at King Edward’s if this is not possible, the test will be in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning.

For 13+ entry in the deadline is 1st November . Deadline for Scholarships is 1st November .

Entry at Sixth Form (16+)
Acceptance into the Sixth Form is conditional upon applicant’s meeting the entrance requirements of the School. For those taking GCSE or IGCSE, the expectation is for a minimum of six 9-4 grades (equivalent to A* – C in old grading system) including Mathematics and English, preferably with at least a grade 7 in the subjects to be studied at A-level or Higher Level in the IB. Under normal circumstances a place will be offered following an interview and the receipt of a satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s present school.

International applicants

We are always pleased to consider aspiring and high achieving International pupils here at King Edward’s, however, we do require pupils to have a reasonable level of fluency in English. Pupils can apply to the School directly or may come to us via an agent. At initial enquiry point, we would ask for a copy of the pupil’s last school reports (in English). We would always encourage families to visit the School and for us to meet them in person. Testing may take place here at King Edward’s, at the British Council or through an approved agent.

If an International pupil is already studying within the United Kingdom, we would normally ask that the pupil visits King Edward’s and that they undertake their Entrance Test and interview here.

Guardianship
A condition of entry to King Edward’s is that all pupils coming from overseas have a guardian whose residential address is in the UK. This may be a relative or family friend but must be someone of more than 25 years of age, not living in student accommodation.

If you do not have a family friend or relative who can fulfil this role, then the Admissions Department can provide a list of guardian Agency’s families local to King Edward’s. We do not participate in inspecting any Guardian/Host Family or Agency arrangements and the School cannot be held responsible for the welfare of your child whilst under the care of a host family or Guardian.

Visas
Any pupil who does not hold a British Passport and who is a citizen outside the UK, must have a visa to allow them to study in the UK. King Edward’s is able to provide a CAS (Certificate of Acceptance to Study) once a place has been accepted at the school. Further information may be obtained from the UK Government visas and Home Office websites.
