The QE admissions team are here to help and support you and your children through our admissions process, from your first enquiry. In this section you will find everything you need to start your journey with us.

Entry to QE

We’ve made applying for Queen Ethelburga’s an easy and personalised experience. You can begin your application at any point of the year, and our Admissions Team will stay in contact with you throughout the application process.

Chapter House (3 Months to Year 5)
Children can attend Chapter House at any point of the year during Kindergarten and Nursery. At the age of 4, children will move to Reception in September, and new starters are expected to join the school at the beginning of the academic year. Children can join any year group in Chapter House.

In Year 5, teachers prepare students for transitioning to King’s Magna.

King’s Magna (Year 6 to Year 9)
Students attend King's Magna when they reach Year 6. Students are welcome to apply for any year group at the school, with the expectation that they join the school at the beginning of the academic year.

In Year 9, students decide to attend The College or The Faculty. Queen Ethelburga’s has a unique offering of two senior schools for students in Years 10 to 12 to choose between.

The Faculty (Year 10 to Year 13)
Students can join the Faculty at the beginning of Year 10 or Year 12.

They follow a personalised pathway of academic, creative, or vocational courses to progress them towards higher education or employment.

The College (Year 10 to Year 13)*
Students can join the College at the beginning of Year 10, Year 11, or Year 12.

They follow a traditional academic route towards higher education through GCSE and A Level courses.

*To be offered a place at The College, you must score 60 or above in the Mathematics, Non-Verbal and Spatial percentile sections of the CAT4.

If you are applying for Year 12, you must achieve a grade of 7 or higher in the nearest equivalent subject at GCSE.

Or, if you are applying for the 1-year GCSE programme, you must achieve a grade of 6 or higher in the nearest equivalent subject at GCSE.
