Thank you for your interest in Fudan International School (FDIS). The FDIS admission office welcomes applicants from all over the world. we are a school for children of expatriates in Shanghai .We are committed to serving you and helping you to find the school best suited for your needs. Admission staff are available to show you around the school, talk to you in person and answer your inquiries.
We accept applicants for Grades 1-10. (We do not accept new students in Grade 10 second semester，Grade11 and 12, which is solely reserved for students already enrolled at FDIS.) Parents are encouraged to apply for the fall season in September and for the spring season in February/March, depending on the timing of the Lunar New Year.
Admissions Policy
Applicants should meet one of the requirements below:
- Students whose father or mother holds a foreign passport with the resident permit issued by Shanghai or a permanent residence card issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
- Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China or students whose father/mother from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China (Parents need to provide documents showing that they are working or living in Shanghai）
- Students with foreign passports with a residence permit issued by Shanghai or a permanent residence card issued by the Ministry of Public Security (Parents need to provide documents showing that they are working or living in Shanghai)
- Students who were born overseas (both parents hold the Chinese passports without permanent residence from other countries, and the child holding the foreign passport without visa issued by China does not meet the admissions policy.);
- ‘People's Republic of China Travel Document’ and ‘People's Republic of China Exit and Entry permit’are not considered as visas.
- Students who hold the permit from the Education Commission
Students who apply for Grade 1 (2024-2025 academic year) should turn into 6 year old by 31st.

Academic Year Fall (September) Semester： Grade 1 （40 seats）

- Entrance assessment date: December 16 & 17,

Application Process
- Submit the online application form.
- Find the ‘Application Entry 申请通道’ on the homepage of the official website.
- Admissions office will contact you for the application materials via mail in one week. Please follow the instruction by Admissions Office.
- Submit the document (hardcopies) before the deadline provided by Admissions Office (Application materials are reviewed and confirmed on Thursday and Friday only excluding holidays).
- Entrance Assessment for ES new grade 1 (Chinese, Math, English and Social-Emotional Learning)
- Except Chinese, all the other subjects will be tested in English
- Family interview. Interview languages are English and Chinese.
- FDIS makes the decision and the Admissions Office informs families via email or phone call.
Applicants need to be informed of the following information:
Fudan International School can help with student visas only if the student’s age is 18 or above.
If there are no seats left at FDIS, students will be put on the waiting list.

Open Houses
- The Admissions Office usually updates the available appointment dates at the beginning of the month. Scan the QR code to book one.
- Please note that there are no open house during the winter and summer vacations.
