Getting Started at Hanova
We are always excited about spending time with students and their families who are considering international schools in Xi’an! Whether you are just looking for more information or seriously considering sending your children to Hanova, we would love to help you in any way that we can.

Step 1: Complete a Student Application
You can obtain the link to the Hanova student application form from the Hanova school admission officer or directly from the school website via the Admission section. This will include information about students’ and parents’ linguistic ability as part of our Languages Profile that will be used for student placement.

Step 2: Tour the School and meet a Pedagogical Leadership Team (PLT) member
Come and meet us and take a tour of the school. You’ll have a chance to ask questions, get information about Hanova and give any feedback regarding our school. Please contact Hanova Admission officers by email or phone to set up an appointment.

Step 3: School Admission and English Placement Assessment
Parents will be invited for their child/ren to attend school for any Admissions and/or English proficiency tests. If successful, the parents will receive an Acceptance Letter, which will stipulate a deadline for acceptance. If the deadline of one week is exceeded, the school reserves the right to offer the place to another family.
Admission to the school and allocation to teaching groups can be confirmed on the completion of the Admissions Panel interview and assessment results. Non-mother tongue speakers of English from Y7 and above will be given an English placement assessment to determine their teaching groups or suitability for the school. For students currently residing outside Xi’an, the school will arrange for a member of the academic staff to hold a phone or Skype interview to give an approximate assessment to guide placement.

Step 4: Submit the Student Application & Registration Fee
To secure a place in the appropriate class for the coming school year it is necessary to pay a refundable registration fee along with each submitted student application. The registration fee is refunded against the first semester’s fees.
Contact the Hanova Admissions staff for more information regarding the student application and registration fee. Please submit the following documents along with the student application form, and applicants must also pay a security deposit; the school has the right to withhold the deposit for the duration of the students’ stay. When the student leaves the school, the deposit is refundable according to school policies.

  • Mother’s passport
  • Father’s passport
  • Child’s passport for entry visa purposes

Step 5: Payment
The full annual or semester fees are due before a student can begin class. The annual or first semester fees for the school year are due on or before August 1st. The second semester fees are due on or before the end of the first semester.
