General Information

School Year
The academic year starts in August and ends in June and is divided into three terms as shown below.

  • Term 1. August to December
  • Term 2. January to April
  • Term 3. April to June

Ages and Classes
The school caters for students aged 2 to 18 years old. Students are allocated to classes according to their age on 1st September.

Curriculum
Whilst Charter International School bases its curriculum on the English National Curriculum, we have adjusted it to reflect the international nature of the school. See ‘Curriculum’ section for further detailed information.

Standard Assessments
Throughout the Primary School, students are assessed against English National Curriculum standards to evaluate their progress in English and Maths. In Secondary students study for external examinations from Cambridge University in Year 9 in Checkpoint, Year 10 and 11 in IGCSE and Year 12 and 13 at A Level.

English Language Support (ELS)
English Language Support is available for students in the primary and secondary school who require extra help learning English. The aim of the ELS programme is to improve the students’ command of the English language as quickly as possible so they can fully take part in all mainstream lessons.

After-School Activities (Optional)

Snacks and lunch
There is a full snack and lunch programme, comprising a light mid-morning snack with milk and a choice of Thai and International cuisine at lunchtime in line with the school’s healthy eating policy.

Bus Service
The school offers a bus service to collect and return students. A bus monitor collects students from their classroom at the end of the day and escorts them to the bus. Bus rules govern the behaviour of students when using the school bus. For more information, please contact the school office.

How to Apply

Admissions Procedures
Our admissions procedures are in place :

  • To ensure that all admissions are handled effectively and efficiently
  • To ensure consistency in the admission of students.
  • To ensure each student is admitted to the appropriate class at a time best suited to the student’s development, and that the educational programmes offered are suited to the student’s needs.

Please note that we are unable to accept students with severe learning difficulties.

Application

  • Parents complete an application form and give it with all other required documents to the Admissions Officer.
  • The Admissions Officer will inform parents of the date to bring their child(ren) for their Discovery Day(s). All applicants will have at least one Discovery Day but up to three days can be taken in exceptional circumstances. Applicants at the start of the school year may have a testing/assessment day in lieu of a Discovery Day
  • Students applying to enter Years 10 and above must meet with the Head of Secondary

Discovery Day(s)

  • Parents should come to the Admissions Officer when they arrive at school.
  • For Year 1 to 6 the child(ren) will be given a test in English during the Discovery Day(s).
  • For Years 7 and above tests will be given in English, Maths and Thai (if a Thai national).
  • The Admissions Officer will inform parents of the school’s decision within two days. If the application is accepted, the Admissions Officer will make an appointment to complete the registration procedures.

Registration

  • Parents go to the Accounts Department to pay all required fees.
  • Parents meet the Admissions Officer to complete all necessary arrangements.

Registration Requirement
Parents are required to complete the application form and provide the following document:

  • Completed application form
  • 2 Student’s photographs (size 1″)
  • Photocopy of Student’s Passport/ Visa
  • Photocopy of Student’s Birth Certificate
  • Photocopy of previous school reports
  • Student’s medical report
  • 2 Parent’s photographs (size 1”)
  • Photocopy of Parent’s I.D./ Passport/ Visa
