Information on application procedures for new admission

1. Target households

This is the family of a new first grade elementary school student who hopes to enroll at Manila Japanese School next year.
However, please note that the procedures differ depending on the category below.

Category 1: Currently living in the Philippines. Family of a senior kindergarten student at a local kindergarten.

( Application deadline: Wednesday, December 17)

Category ②: Currently residing in Japan, etc. After graduating from kindergarten in March next year, I plan to go to a family home.

(Application deadline: Friday, March 20)

3. Upcoming Schedule

Thursday, January 29 │School entry test (in person) │ *Only for older kindergarteners who live locally

Monday, February 16 | School Information Session (in person and online) | *For families who have been accepted as above and families living in Japan, etc.

Early April (Further information) | New Enrollment and Transfer Exams | *For families who plan to move to the Philippines after graduating from kindergarten in Japan, etc.

4. Application Procedure

Category 1: Families of kindergarteners currentlyApplication Procedure living in the Philippines

Date and time: Thursday, January 29, 14:00-15:20 Location of the entrance exam: Manila Japanese School, designated classrooms

School entrance examination contents:

  • Written test: Questions based on situations and things that young children encounter in their daily lives. Tests that do not require reading or writing skills, such as circling questions.
  • Interview test: Check whether you can understand and respond to instructions, answer questions, etc. through one-on-one conversation

Category 2: Families currently living in Japan, etc., who plan to move to the Philippines after graduating from kindergarten in Japan, etc.

Date and time: Early April. New admission and transfer examinations. Location: Manila Japanese School designated classrooms.

How to apply:

  1. I have read the "MJS Handbook" carefully and agree to all the requirements for admission and other contents.
  2. Apply by submitting the "New Enrollment/Transfer Enrollment Application Form"

Application deadline: Friday, March 20

Documents to be prepared in advance (upload as image data):

  • Passport (photo page of student and guardian)
  • Manila Japanese Association Membership Card (Head of Household) *If you live in Japan, you can submit this after taking up your post.

5. About the School Information Session

Date and time: Monday, February 16

Manila time 14:30-15:15 Reception 14:15-14:25

(15:30~16:15 Japan time)

Location: Manila Japanese School Gymnasium 1 (Please bring slippers or other footwear.)

How to participate

  1. Students who passed the January school entrance examination will meet at our school.
  2. Online participation for residents of Japan and other countries (web meeting)

  2. Admission requirements, fees, and admission information
  3. School Life: "A Day in the Life of a First-Year Student"
  4. PTA activities
  5. School Child Insurance
  6. Question and Answer Session

5. Other

For families attending in person, we plan to sell formal uniforms (specified by the school and to be worn during the ceremony) and gym uniforms (cash only) after the school information session.
