Since our founding in 1926, Lausanne has continually evolved for the better. But our founders’ emphasis on challenging the status quo, commitment to small classes, inspiring teachers and highly individualized instruction are values we hold dear today.

Lausanne Collegiate School offers students a distinctive learning community through an established tradition of educational innovation. We forge meaningful relationships and embrace global mindedness. We learn from one another and honor and celebrate our differences and our likenesses.

We’ve graduated generations of alumni empowered to forge their own path. And our students learn to respect and consider the viewpoints of others as they work through complex problems today just as they have for 90 years. That desire for different thoughts and opinions has steadily grown the diversity of our campus over the decades, giving our students the ability to form meaningful relationships across stereotypical, socio-economic and global divides.

While we are proud of the history that we’ve built together, we challenge ourselves to be better tomorrow than we are today, and are constantly looking for ways to further serve our students and community. Lausanne will continue to adjust to fully prepare our graduates for college and for life in a global environment, but our consistent core values will continue to guide us into the future just as they have for the past 90 years.

Our school has an incredible history. It’s long been a place that helps students find their passion in an environment of not only of tolerance and empathy but of true community support. At Lausanne, the artist, the academic and the athlete can each be celebrated for their interests, but not be typecast into a role because of them.

At Lausanne, we prepare all our students for life in a global environment. As we look at the world they’ll encounter when they begin to seek their own journeys in college and beyond, preparing them to work, interact and collaborate with a diverse mix of people is essential for their success in the future.

With girls and boys from 55 different countries and 47% students of color, Lausanne truly is a microcosm of the world. The diversity allows students to learn from each other, giving them better cognitive abilities in addition to improved social skills. Teaching girls and boys how to learn and work together from an early age allows students to see beyond stereotypes and grow their respect of viewpoints different from their own.

In a child’s early, formative years, they acquire the building blocks of their education and their perceptions of the world. Under the guidance of Lausanne’s expert faculty, students are given a safe environment to learn from people different from themselves. As they mature, they grow in their appreciation of other perspectives, approaches and responses. This interaction across gender divides promotes more thoughtful students prepared to engage in meaningful discussion and debate.

Lausanne develops the individual talents, intellects, creativity and character of girls and boys through innovative teaching strategies and passionate and engaged learning within our diverse Pre-Kindergarten-12th grade setting. Empowering students to seek their own journey is key to the Lausanne Way, and by providing an environment that mimics the world they’ll encounter, our students are prepared to succeed. Contact our Admission office to schedule a tour and see the Lausanne Way first-hand.

Regardless of their gender, each student learns differently, and teachers at Lausanne work to ensure that the right educational approach is used for each student. Our faculty look deeper than stereotypes to ensure that each child is taught in the most effective way within their co-educational experience.

"We live in a mixed-gender, fast paced and competitive society. We chose to have our daughters study at Lausanne because we believe that a co-ed school structure will help them build confidence and become used to partnering competing with peers regardless of race or gender. Lausanne offers this perfect balance of skills that will prepare them for the diverse academic and work environments in our society."

The unique research- and inquiry-based educational process for boys and girls at Lausanne Collegiate School includes small class sizes; inspiring and supportive faculty; and the advantage of sharing diverse cultures, experiences, opinions and interests.

The renowned International Baccalaureate Programme and wide range of extra-curricular activities give Lausanne students a competitive edge in the college admission process as well as the skills and attributes necessary to explore and find success in a global environment.
