Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) is committed to ensuring that boarding is a happy and fulfilling experience, providing students with a ‘home away from home’ environment.

The School offers the only girls' boarding house in the ACT and provides the advantages of a leafy, almost rural atmosphere, located within easy access to the central business district, road, rail and air transportation.

The Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) Boarding House (known by the boarders as BoHo) continues the long and valued tradition of boarding at the School.

Boarding life enables the School to educate the whole person for the wider world, from within a close and happy community, where self-realisation, challenges and self-esteem are nurtured.

The Boarding House is a three-storey mock Tudor-style building, which was the original school building, established on the Melbourne Avenue site in 1927.

Boarding is offered on a weekly or full time basis with short term boarding options available for day girls. The Boarding House provides excellent, safe and friendly facilities including relaxation and study areas.

The Boarding House is a positive, lively community, where respect, responsibility, initiative, cooperation and endeavour are highly valued. Boarding is an integral feature of CGGS and the School is enhanced by its boarding community.

Flexible Boarding Options

Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) provides a range of flexible boarding options to meet the needs of our students and their families.

Traditional full-time boarding

International students and students from remote areas typically choose to board full-time. Students live in the Boarding House seven nights per week.

Weekly boarding

Weekly boarding can take some of the pressure off busy family life. Students stay four nights at school (Monday to Thursday) then three nights at home (Friday to Sunday). This is a perfect solution for many families.

Flexi (temporary) boarding

Flexi boarding is an attractive option to help families meet their commitments. A student may have sport or music or another activity after school. Rather than travel in the dark, she can stay in the Boarding House for one or two nights a week (subject to places being available).

Occasional Boarding

If you’re travelling for a few weeks, or if there is an illness in the family, you may take up the option of occasional boarding by booking in for just a week or two. Occasional boarders will be surrounded by friends and have plenty of opportunities for study and activities. They will also be taken to all their regular co-curricular activities.
