Kincoppal-Rose Bay is known for its vibrant and welcoming boarding community for girls in Years 7-12.

Our boarding tradition dates back to Rose Bay Convent in 1882 and today more than a third of our Senior School population are boarders.

Students from rural, regional and international locations all converge on our tranquil harbourside setting and call our seven hectare site their home away from home.

At times current and prospective city students may be considered for a boarding place. An application to change status from day student to boarding student should be made in writing to the Principal at least 12 months in advance and will be placed on a waitlist for review.

Together, our boarders share a special bond with each student feeling as though she has 150 "sisters" who are all part of her second family.

KRB boarding students have a strong presence in every aspect of school life including academic pursuits, sports and leadership. They lie at the heart of the broader KRB community.

Every girl is known, cared for and encouraged to develop personally and academically.

KRB has a dedicated staff committed to meeting the pastoral and academic needs of every boarder.

Each boarding house has a Head of House who monitors individual students. Our staff work closely with the girls to help them manage their learning and encourage them to achieve their personal best.

Academic resources for boarders

Boarders are given every opportunity to enhance their learning at the KRB Homework and Study Centre.

The Centre holds a range of modern learning resources and is staffed by our supportive teachers and tutors, who make themselves available for private consultations.

Leadership opportunities

KRB boarders are encouraged to aim for a leadership role in our boarding school.

Our Boarding School Student Representative Council comprises members from each year group and is led by a Year 12 Head Boarder and an Assistant Head Boarder. Additionally, boarders from each year group have the opportunity to advocate on behalf of their peers as members of the Food Committee or participate in building and sharing faith practice as members of the Liturgy Committee.

Modern living accommodation

KRB offers modern boarding facilities including:

  • Refurbished bedrooms and bathrooms
  • Comfortable, inviting common rooms
  • A renovated dining room

Year 12 boarders

All Year 12 boarders live in separate accommodation in twin or single rooms in Sheldon House - a purpose-built facility to support our final year students achieve their academic goals.
