Our mission as a school and for our boarding program is to develop resilient young people who make a difference in the world within a high quality, affordable, Christ-centred education. Our Boarding House is located a short drive from our main campus.

Our key values are:

  • Faith: We believe in God, the creator of all things and His Son, Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection reopened the way to relationship with God.
  • Community: We believed that God has designed us for relationship and we as a school believe that the development of community within the school and within the broader Dubbo region is vital.
  • Character: We believe that Jesus Christ demonstrated what it means to be fully human.
  • Excellence: We believe that God calls us to strive to achieve the very best in everything that we do.

In providing the boarding service at Macquarie Anglican Grammar School our key service objectives are to:

  • Provide a secure, safe environment for each boarder so that they may function as an individual to achieve their potential;
  • Provide boarders with a variety of experiences at the School and in the wider community to provide a holistic education and appropriate pastoral care for boarders;
  • Facilitate an environment where boarders and boarding staff are able to work, rest, ‘play’ and relax free from bullying and harassment of any form;
  • Provide equality of opportunity for all boarders regardless of culture, religion, ethnicity, ability or background;
  • Create a boarding environment that is positive and encouraging, with conditions that are conducive to learning and growing; and
  • Ensure boarding staff and boarders respect each other’s right to privacy.

Boarding Program

Our boarders will be engaged in a balanced program with an appropriate mix of activity and downtime.

Boarders will participate in sport on Saturdays. Current Macquarie students already play a range of sports for various local clubs which boarders would be encouraged to join. Macquarie has a number of teams in the local netball competition although at this stage, no specific Macquarie teams are involved in other sports.

Each Saturday evening will include an activity which is covered in the fees. There may be some occasions where the activity will move to Sunday.

Sunday evenings will include attendance at a church youth service or a chapel service on site. The rest of the day will be spent in study or relaxation around the facility. Boarders will have rostered and supervised use of the pool and use of the oval, tennis courts and cricket nets.

Boarders will be encouraged to undertake the Duke of Edinburgh program and the weekend will allow them to undertake the volunteer hours necessary to complete the program. The weekend will also allow students to gain and commit to part time employment in Dubbo in the same way that our day students do. Senior School academic staff will supervise Prep each evening.
