*Financial aid for these expenses if provided to tuition financial aid recipients. The aid is proportionate with a family's tuition financial aid (e.g. a 60% tuition aid recipient will receive 60% aid for these expenses).

Tuition is billed in either 2 installments (May and July) or 7 monthly installments.

Other Financial Considerations:

Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of an Athenian education; the school relies on voluntary tax-deductible contributions (the Annual Fund) to help make up the operating budget gap. Because the need is great, every member of the school community is encouraged to contribute to the Annual Fund each year.

Boarding

At The Athenian School, learning is more a way of life than a course outline. As a boarding student, you will have the opportunity to live with your classmates, as well as many of your teachers and their families. We hope you will find that learning and living with up to 60 students from a dozen countries is exciting, challenging, and fun.

Athenian is a place where you'll get to know yourself well, including how you prioritize, collaborate, and handle responsibility. With 25 teachers and their families and pets living on campus (more than 70 people), a little guidance is never far. Living with a diverse group of peers, you will gain group living skills while learning about other cultures and customs.

5-Day Boarding

Students whose families live within reasonable travel distance of Athenian can participate in 5-day boarding. This option allows students to leave campus Friday afternoon after classes end, returning on Sunday. Five-day boarders can benefit from boarding life during the week and participate in their family home life on the weekends.

Benefits of Boarding at Athenian

As a boarding student, you will develop group living skills while mastering academic responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to cultivate positive relationships with teachers and students while learning about other cultures and customs. You also will have extensive access to faculty and staff, receiving outstanding academic preparation in an environment of intellectual inquiry and independent thought. As a boarding student, you will have full access to our library and other campus facilities including a fitness center. Special activities for boarders will let you join in picnics on Mt. Diablo, trips to San Francisco, theater, dance, ski trips, and more.
