Our Menai Boarding House is home to girls from rural Western Australia and overseas, as well as day boarders who join the boarding family for shorter terms. To create a more nurturing, intimate and safe home-away-from-home for your daughter, our boarding facilities only house 100 girls from Years 7 to 12.
Your daughter is about to embark on one of the biggest journeys of her life. Her transition from girl to young woman is a time through which she needs to feel safe, supported and special. That’s why we take extra care to ensure our Boarding House is a home-away-from-home for our students – we go to every length to create an intimate, friendly and nurturing environment, designed to care for your daughter through every stage of her development.
Menai Boarding House
Menai Boarding House is home to girls from rural Western Australia and overseas, as well as day boarders who join the boarding family for shorter terms. To create a more nurturing, intimate and safe home-away-from-home for your daughter, the Menai boarding facilities only house 100 girls from Years 7 to 12.
The major re-development of Menai Boarding House, completed in November 2009, now allows girls to have the privacy of their own room unlike other boarding houses who have shared rooms. Each cohort also has its own kitchen, television room and common room, and all girls have out-of-school hours access to the sports, music and recreation facilities.
For most girls, moving into the boarding house is their first experience of living away from home. Our weekend orientation program helps ease the initial transition for both girls and parents, while a strong pastoral care system is in place to support girls throughout the year.
Boarding at Penrhos, however, is about more than just residential care. It is a place where lifelong friendships are made, and independence, respect and cooperation are learned.
Looking out for your daughter’s emotional and physical well-being are the Head of Boarding, boarding staff and Health Centre nursing staff. In 2019 we will be introducing a Recreation Officer to organise wonderful weekend activities. There’s no getting bored in this boarding house.
