Since our founding in 1884, Maumee Valley has been a national leader in university preparation and academic innovation, and recently the campus added a state-of-the-art $12.5 million high school and new residence hall, the Dayal House. A Maumee Valley education is truly an incredible experience:
Maumee Valley is challenging. The best teachers prepare students and balance student experiences through a culture of caring and personal attention. Small class sizes encourage interaction and the advising program, college counseling, ESL, academic support, and the student life staff ensure your academic and personal success.
Maumee Valley is family. Our student-centered culture affords you a unique opportunity to form extremely close relationships built on a common experience. In a truly global community, students learn with and among peers from different backgrounds. This provides countless teachable moments and leadership opportunities. Half of the Upper School is multicultural and international students are fully integrated into the life of the school.
Maumee Valley is experiential. Hands-on education is everywhere including classroom projects, collaborative group work, and participation in our signature program, Intensives. Beyond academics, almost 100% of students participate in extracurricular activities. Every student is invited to join an athletic team and there are countless clubs to choose from including community service, leadership, ethnic clubs, and academic competitions.
Maumee Valley is a community. The residential program is innovative in combining campus living with the exciting elements of a homestay experience. Students are quickly connected with domestic students and families. Throughout their time, they even have the opportunity to live with a Maumee Valley family during their upper-class years. These experiences provide a terrific foundation whether you are moving to America or moving away from home for the first time. It is also the best way to prepare for the challenges of academics and life in college.
Maumee Valley is leading the way in boarding schools not only with our beautiful residence hall but also in the programs offered including daily tutoring, dedicated faculty, structured programming, a 7:1 student/staff ratio, and a living environment intentionally designed to make students feel like they are at home.
Being a resident in the Dayal House is not like living in a dorm at all, it is more like being a part of a big family and a wonderful community.
Being part of our residential community means you are joining a family. With almost 40 scholars from around the world (28 living on campus in Dayal House), our boarding students truly live the school’s mission of “enabling students to become enlightened, compassionate, and contributing citizens of our global community.” Our program, led by our Student Life staff, is designed to feel like a home away from home. Students are supported and guided and the Maumee Valley family is here to help each student succeed academically and socially. Unlike traditional boarding schools, our thoughtfully crafted program, small size, and focus on the individual student provide personal attention and care to each of our students.
Maumee Valley’s boarding program is housed in the $1.6 million Dayal House. The residence hall was purposefully designed to create a family-like atmosphere for residential students. From the spacious Commons to the well equipped main kitchen, the Dayal House feels like a home. The Student Life staff includes 4 adults who forge close relationships with students and guide them in building friendships and developing important social and leadership skills.
Located just across the Anning Lawn from the Upper School, the Dayal House is the place on campus where boarding, international, and day students meet after school to work on projects, get tutoring help with homework/papers, or just hang out.

While many boarding schools are in small towns or rural areas, Maumee Valley’s beautiful 75-acre campus is situated only minutes from downtown Toledo, an international hub for business, transportation, and cultural attractions. Students benefit from the location in a variety of ways:
