Upper School Boarding Applicants

Step 1: Inquire

Complete the online inquiry form on the admission page of the Masters website. Once you submit an inquiry, we will send you more information about our school and invite you to upcoming admission events on-campus and in your area.

Step 2: Visit Us for an Interview, Tour, and Open House

Once you have completed your online inquiry form, contact us at admission@mastersny.org to schedule an interview. Interviews are offered while classes are in session, Monday through Friday. Can’t make it to campus? Contact us to schedule an interview via Skype with one of our Admission Officers.

In addition to scheduling an interview, you are welcome to attend our optional Open House or one of our weekday group tours. Reservations for these events can be made on the Admission Event Page.

Step 3: Apply

Once we have received your inquiry form, we will send you the link to our application and recommendation forms. However, for your convenience, we offer three ways to apply:

  • The Masters application
  • Gateway
  • Standard Application Online.

Step 4: Testing and Supporting Materials

Submit either ISEE (School Code: 331635) or SSAT (School Code: 4948) scores to Masters. The Masters School is a registered test site with several test dates throughout the year.

Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to submit an official TOEFL report. Age verification is also required prior to scheduling an interview.

Request recommendations from a current school administrator, math and English teachers as well as an official transcript from the last two years. Our recommendation forms are writable pdfs. For families filling out our Masters Application, all recommendation and transcript release forms can be found on your checklist when logged into your family portal. Recommendation forms sent via the applicant will not be accepted.

We also require a graded essay from the current school year. This piece of writing should have been produced for either a history or English class and should include teacher comments and the final grade (if applicable).

5-Day Boarding Program

Masters now offers a five-day boarding option. Students in the five-day program share all the benefits of boarding education during the week, such as full-time access to faculty and school resources, but they also enjoy the convenience of going home on weekends and having their families and friends attend games and performances more frequently.

Our mission, combined with our proximity to New York City, a 96-acre campus overlooking the Hudson River, and a century-old tradition of excellence in education, makes Masters a uniquely desirable destination. Our new boarding options allow families near and far to join our community and benefit from the Masters experience.

7-Day Boarding Program

Students in our seven-day boarding program enjoy all the benefits of boarding education, such as full-time access to faculty and school resources and the opportunity to participate in a wide range of weekend activities.

From enjoying the hottest Broadway musical and visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art to cheering for the Yankees or hiking in the nearby mountains, weekends at Masters are full of excitement.

Students who stay on campus can shoot hoops, play tennis, bake cookies in the dorm kitchen or get help with a project from one of the teachers who live on campus. Others join friends for brunch in the Dining Hall before heading out to a movie.

Students in the boarding program are able to experience a real sense of community, access to faculty and School resources for extra help, and the chance to develop independence and lifelong friendships.
