Our Year 1 – 12, co-education Boarding model is unique and the boarding facilities cater for the care of all children from the one family, regardless of ages. The special bond that brothers and sisters form can continue on a daily basis when boarding at Toowoomba Anglican School.

With a vibrant community of students from Toowoomba, Regional and Central Queensland, interstate and overseas, our boarding brings together young people from different backgrounds. The majority of our boarders hail from properties and regional towns but it is their shared experiences with boarders from suburbia and the cities, that develops and enhances a such special sense of community and belonging.

Located within a unique setting, our four purpose-built boarding houses enjoy outstanding views to the east with easy access to our Arts, Sporting and Academic facilities located within campus grounds. By design, Toowoomba Anglican School applies a modern approach to traditional boarding. Our Secondary and Primary boarding students are age appropriately roomed to cater specifically for the developmental needs of both.

We appreciate that parents have many factors to consider when deciding to board their children. Some decisions may be based on education, distance, others on a belief that boarding, as a life experience, is worthy in itself to take up. Once a decision to board is made, parents can be reassured that their child will be supported in a gentle environment with a focus on developing strength and resilience. Mindful of the immense trust placed in us, we consider it a privilege to journey with boarder families in this way and encourage regular contact between the school, parents and students.

The Boarding Houses

Arnott house is specifically designed for girls from Year 8 to 12. Arnott House features bright and friendly dormitories and a comfortable large common room.

While the school week days are extremely full with academic, cultural and sporting activities the weekends provide time to relax and simply have fun, enjoying one another’s company within the House.

Arnott House provides young ladies with the opportunity to blossom in their environment, whilst developing a strong sense of community, tolerance, mutual respect and independence.

Stoneleigh House is the home for our older boys. The comfortable design of Stoneleigh House, set within quiet park-like surroundings, makes it private and an ideal setting in which boys can be raised to young manhood.

Each student has his own private area and the communal areas are open-plan. The dorms are furnished with attractive fittings whilst the recreation rooms are uniquely spacious, which enable the boys to relax on evenings and weekends.

Beautifully appointed in the heart of the boarding precinct, Founder's House is the home for our younger boarding girls.

The lounge room looks out across the Lockyer Valley below the school and captures its panoramic views. It also provides a sunny, pleasant place in which the girls can socialise and play games. Founder's house is beautifully furnished and fully air-conditioned.

The House Parent and boarding staff ensure that not only are all the needs of the girls well-met but also there is a stimulating and varied activity program for the students out of school hours.

Bligh House caters for our younger boys and reverberates with the energy and life of boys building friendships and enjoying the camaraderie that comes from being together as boarders.

Being the first experience of boarding, great effort is made to ensure that their everyday boarding life is a really positive one. There is a high level of care over each aspect of the boys' welfare. We pride ourselves on the level of pastoral care, nurturing and inculcation of everyday life skills.

Every boarder has his own area within each room and share stunning views of eastern Toowoomba that take in Picnic Point, Table Top and the Lockyer Valley. Weekend programs are specifically designed to concentrate on outdoor activities that make life in their home away from home fun and relevant.

Boarding in a Co-Ed School

It goes without saying that for your sons and daughters to grow up together during their school and boarding years, enables them to far more naturally be nurtured and guided into the demands and expectations of gender equality in the modern world. Most of all, a healthy respect between the genders, and a greater understanding of each other, can thus be attained, resulting in far healthier societal growth.

Both our juniors and seniors share excursions, mystery trips and on-campus activities and the entire boarding group enjoys meals, weekend BBQ's and other recreational occasions. Again, this all further strengthens the natural and healthy dynamics of family life.

Evenings and Weekends

Boarding school students try more co-curricular activities and they are kept busy!

Boarding schools also tend to offer a range of extracurricular activities rarely seen at local schools, with hundreds of clubs and activities, ranging from sports like soccer and basketball to more cultural pursuits like photography clubs and debating societies. Being exposed to this diverse range of options encourages students to try things they never would have before, helping them to develop their range of interests and grow into more well-rounded individuals.

In the evenings student routines are age related and shower and bed times accommodate this. Whilst we are a progressive school with the use of technology, we do not allow students to have their devices after lights out. All devices are handed in nightly and stored safely by the House Parent.

Not only do boarding schools commit to delivering the very highest standard of education, they also offer specialised support for students throughout the university application process, helping to ensure they have the best possible chance of securing their first choice degree. As a result, boarding schools often boast high numbers of graduates who go on to attend top universities.

Food and Nutrition

Our catering and Kitchen staff, supervised by the Head Chef, provide all the meals for the boarders.

Each day sees Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and Dinner in the dining room, with opportunities for supper snacks in the Houses in the evenings. Students with special dietary requirements are adequately catered for.

Menus are created by utilising specialist advice from nutritional specialist to support the needs and growing individuals. On a regular basis, the Director Of Boarding and Head Chef meet with representatives from each House to examine, discuss and fine tune menus.

Living Away From Home

Students learn to be independent in our boarding environment

The sense of family, community and care permeates from here to the whole school. Staying on campus also allows students the chance to learn to live more independently, taking control over their own schedule, managing their chores and their studies, and learning self-discipline. As a result, they develop crucial life skills that leave them more fully prepared for life beyond school.

Boarders will learn to be self-sufficient while boarding at Toowoomba Anglican School but they’re not left to fend totally for themselves. Boarders enjoy the support of some of the most dedicated education staff around, with highly qualified teachers to offer their experience and guidance in the classroom, and specially trained support staff to help them outside of class hours.

We also have a 24 hour, 7 day Health centre service which ensures that a qualified medical nursing practitioner is available for all the medical requirements of boarders.
