Boarding staff work closely with students to promote participation in school activities and organize special events. They also encourage involvement in many after-school activities. Every weekend an optional activity is planned for students such as skating or rock climbing. Students may opt to go to the movies, bake cookies, or visit a friend’s house. Weekends can be cultural or educational, busy or quiet.

All boarding students are members of Winnipeg Winter Club, a nearby premiere fitness facility. Students have access to tennis, swimming, and fitness equipment. Additionally, students are encouraged to take private music instruction, dance lessons at Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and more.

Students will experience four very distinct seasons throughout the year. In September the leaves change colour and soon the snow will fall. Warm winter clothes will be required for building snow families. As average temperatures dip to -25 Celsius, the Red River Mutual Trail freezes over for ice skating. In March the snow will start to melt and green grass will sprout again. Soon we will be planning outdoor BBQs when the average June temperature is +25 Celsius.

Winnipeg is one of the most diverse communities in Canada. Located in the heart of Winnipeg, Balmoral Hall School offers boarding students in grades 6 to 12 an enriched educational experience. There are nearly 30 first languages spoken within the school community alone!

Boarding students have the opportunity to get a taste for various foods, languages, and artistic endeavours both in and outside of school as staff organize a variety of activities, including weekly restaurants visits, attendance at cultural events, and much more.
