Your Home, Away From Home
At Farragut, our boarding students work hard to be successful. Not only do they benefit from faculty with decades of experience in their respective fields, but they also get to choose from signature programs that separate Farragut from other boarding schools.
Experience the Benefits
Boarding schools are the better life preparation path from high school, college, career, and beyond. At boarding school, students have the opportunity to study and live with students and teachers who share their passion to learn and grow in a fun environment. Boarding students have the opportunity to try many activities or fine-tune a passion with plenty of support.
Admiral Farragut Academy
Farragut not only provides a military order and structure to help prepare students for college and beyond, but also a well-rounded experience with opportunities to be involved in signature academic programs and many extracurricular activities outside of the academic day. Below is an example of the day of the life of a boarding student who attends Admiral Farragut Academy.
Rooms and Roommates
We are not only a school, we are a home. More than half of our Upper School students live here in the dorms and are supervised 24/7 by residential life and faculty.
Something for Everyone
Sunshine and warm weather make our location in St. Petersburg, Florida the ideal place for outdoor activities all year long.
Weekday Outings
During the week boarders may attend campus sporting events, movie nights, and a trip to the local mall depending upon academic standing.
Weekend Adventures
Weekend activities vary from week to week and are organized by Residential Life staff. Student-suggested weekend activities are highly encouraged, and if they are a reasonable request, we make it happen! Our campus amenities during the weekend include access to the pool, gymnasium, weight room, sand volleyball court, tennis and basketball court, track, waterfront, or the East Lounge or Cadet Union where movie nights or game nights are held almost every weekend.
Our day students also often invite boarders home for the weekends, but there are also plenty of exciting excursions to experience in St. Petersburg and the surrounding areas less than an hour away such as:
If a boarder chooses to not attend the weekend excursion, you will most likely find them at the beach, mall, dinner, or movies with other boarders and day students.
Students in courses such as Marine Biology and Scuba also often go on weekend camping, canoe, and diving excursions. Also during Spring Break, many teachers chaperone trips around the United States and around the world like Europe, South America, or skiing/white water rafting at Squaw Valley.
