Our boarding houses have a nurturing, inclusive atmosphere, providing our students with a true ‘home away from home’.

Experience truly international boarding
As part of an increasingly mobile world, the acs cobham boarding house has established itself as a genuine champion of internationalism, with students representing more than 30 countries. We are proud of our multicultural identity, and celebrate the things that make us different as an integral part of boarding life.

Expert residential house parents and nurse ensure our students have the constant support, guidance, and care to be happy, inspired, and ready to make their mark on the world. We see student achievement as an individual goal. Academic success in the renowned international baccalaureate diploma programme (ibdp) and advanced placement (ap) ensures our boarders can attend the university of their choice anywhere in the world.

Success in sports, the performing and creative arts, in leadership, growth and responsibility empowers all to become well-rounded and well-grounded individuals. Our outstanding residency sits within a secure, thriving, 128-acre campus full of study, creative, and recreational facilities. A multi-million pound refurbishment of the existing boarding house fields is now complete and features a new walk-in medical centre with a fully-trained medical team.

Active support
Our resident house parents, identify and promote each student’s learning skills, monitor and guide academic progress, and deal promptly and sympathetically with any personal situation that may arise. All our students feel respected as individuals, and our expert staff actively support their personal, social, and educational development. Our team is strengthened by resident teacher/advisors, the boarding nurse, a school counsellor, and our student peer group.

We understand the importance of providing a balanced and full school life, which is why weekend trips are integreted into the annual schedule, and run every weekend throughout each semester.

Woodlands house
Our new senior boarding house, for students aged 16-18, opened in 2017. It provides world-class accommodation for 113 students, with separate areas for boys and girls. Grade 11 students all share substantial twin ensuite rooms, while every grade 12 student has their own single ensuite room with study area.

The contemporary design and layout of woodlands house extends over four floors with high levels of natural light and ventilation, and commanding views across our campus. There is a triple-height atrium, multiple social areas, kitchenettes, lounges and study areas, and extensive landscaped areas and a bbq.

7-day, 5-day & flexi-boarding

Taylor-made solutions
At acs cobham we offer a full range of boarding options to suit the needs of different families. Full 7-day boarding, weekly 5-day boarding, and temporary flexi-boarding are available, with all students made to feel at home in our welcoming boarding community. Our students also have the option to move from day to boarding, or vice versa, which can be useful if family circumstances change. Please feel free to contact us if you would like more information on our boarding options.

For full terms and conditions, and to apply for flexi-boarding, please contact our head of boarding directly.

7-day boarding
Our premium 7-day boarding option allows students to immerse themselves in acs boarding life, including all the activities, trips and events that happen at the weekend, and which provide such a unique and nurturing experience. With no exeat weekends, our 7-day boarders have plenty of time to discover new interests and hobbies, take full advantage of our campus facilities, and develop friendships.

5-day boarding
Around a quarter of our boarding students opt for weekly (5-day) boarding from monday to friday. This is a great option for dual working parents, or families living in the london area who want their child to have a wonderful boarding experience while still maintaining family time at the weekends.

Our expansive 128-acre campus provides green space and fresh air during the week, while our proximity to london and other local towns makes the trip home on friday afternoons eminently doable.

Flexi-boarding
Flexi-boarding is open to day students in grades 7 to 12, to help meet the challenges of modern family life. It is ideal for students who take part in co-curricular activities that either finish late, or start early in the day, or for those whose parents travel for work. Students are also encouraged to try flexi-boarding to determine if full boarding might be something that suits their needs later in their schooling life.

The maximum time a flexi-boarder can stay with us is 45 nights per academic year, and is subject to space being available, on a first come, first served basis.
