At Hazlegrove our boarders are the heartbeat of the school. It’s of paramount importance to us that your children feel safe and happy staying here, and our thriving community of around 100 full-time boarders is testament to our success.
You can be confident that our experienced houseparents and boarding staff will take care of your child’s physical and emotional wellbeing, ensuring they have a relaxed and fun time at our school.
It’s not an easy decision to make, but with many of our boarder families choosing Hazlegrove on the strength of personal recommendations from past and current pupils, we know we can offer a positive boarding experience both for boarders and their parents. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your child to reach their potential, grow in confidence and make friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
Our Boarding Ethos
'Pastoral care is key to the strength and overall success of the boarding at Hazlegrove; it is at the heart of everything that we do. Our pastoral care in the boarding houses at Hazlegrove School is underpinned by the philosophy that each and every child should be parented – every day! In other words, children should not go through a day without an adult showing an interest in them and expressing a genuine concern for them. They all deserve to have an adult involved in guiding them and being a positive role model to them. We achieve this by having a large number of adults on duty in and around the Houses every day.
We are in a privileged position to have at least five adults (up to eight on some nights), working in each boarding house every night; and we have an additional fifteen members of staff who live on site who are fully involved and committed to the boarders time at Hazlegrove. We all believe in promoting childhood and making sure that the children have a magical time whilst at Hazlegrove.
Communication is key and our “family-feel” encourages dialogue between all the adults involved with the care of the children. We would like parents to feel that they are a part of the boarding journey and that we work together to enrich the lives of the children in our care.'
We currently have around 100 boarders aged 7 to 13 years old accommodated in three boarding houses each with dedicated houseparents heading up the house family.
