In order to give full effect to these principles, pupils are cared for by a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated professionals. Their collective aim is to maintain a boarding house in which all children will be healthy, clean, well-fed and well-rested. A stimulating environment will aim to develop physical and emotional strength, as well as the opportunity to create enduring friendships.
Boarders at Orwell Park fall into one of the following categories, although interchange is common and welcome:
Orwell Park is pleased to welcome Full Boarders including those from overseas. The school will take full responsibility for arrangements as follows;
In normal circumstances parents will nominate guardians. All staff at Orwell Park school including guardians are required to have a full criminal background check.
For all those staying at school excursions are organised every weekend for full boarders and children who choose to become full boarders in order to go on the trip! A typical range of excursions might include:
Strawberry picking; Pleasurewood Hills; Camping; Fish & Chips at Aldeburgh; Bluewater Shopping Centre trip; Colchester Water Park swimming; Crazy Golf; Ceramics & Painting outing; Cinema outing; Pin Mill trip and walk; Felixstowe outing & amusements; Boating at Thorpeness; Duxford Air Museum; Laserquest; plus trips to local towns and activities such as Southwold, Walton on the Naze and Sutton Hoo.
Our boarding school proudly welcomes students from all over the UK and abroad for full, weekly, and flexi boarding.
We offer pupils facilities and activities which enhance social skills, cultural awareness, and respect for others. In an environment that celebrates the differences between pupils, the key life skills of resilience, self-motivation, and responsibility are absorbed and developed.
We are pleased to welcome pupils from military families, and our recently refurbished boarding accomodation and full weekend and evening activity programme is, we believe, particularly condusive to the happiness and equilibrium of our pupils. Orwell Park’s relationship with the military extends to the Desert Rats who were stationed at the School, during the war, preparing their landing craft for D-Day.
The boarding model at Orwell Park offers flexible, weekly and full boarding with the latter becoming increasingly attractive to both local pupils and those from further afield. With a complement of full boarders at weekends we are able to offer a broad and exciting activity programme either in-house or away from school.
We offer a competitive CEA plus 10% to pupils of military families. Please contact us for more information.
