Modern boarding is very different today from the experience of those who boarded perhaps 30 years ago. Gone are the pokey hallways and rows of beds - replaced with light airy spaces that feature all the comforts of modern living. We offer boarding right from age seven and from occasional, through to full boarding - with flexibility to fit in with busy family life
Whilst many children at Ranby House are day pupils, being able to stay over as part of our boarding community provides families and children with many benefits.
In line with the demands of busy modern life, we offer a full range of boarding options that suit lots of different family circumstances.
Full, weekly or flexi?
For those with parents in the armed forces, those further afield and our overseas pupils, we offer full boarding for children as young as 6 years old. We have a well-established Guardianship Programme, as well as a dedicated Junior Boarding House at our Senior school site.
Flexi-boarders stay at school for two nights, going home for the remaining days in the week. This can be an excellent way of cutting down on the school run or accommodating an evening commitment. This can be topped up with occasional boarding if parents so wish.
Investing heavily in boarding in the last couple of years, our facilities have attracted national attention from various architectural publications – and quite rightly so.
Bedrooms are spacious and colourful and common room areas are relaxing and comforting spaces, with kitchen facilities, break-out areas and a host of multi-media.
Full, weekly or flexi?
In line with the demands of modern life, we offer a range of boarding options to suit family circumstances.
As well as our full-boarders, many pupils stay with us Monday to Saturday, but take the opportunity to go home on a Saturday afternoon – returning on Monday morning ready for the school week.
And an increasing number of day pupils now take up the option of ‘flexi’ boarding – staying just two nights of the week. This can be an excellent way of cutting down on the ‘school run’ or accommodating evening activities. This can also be topped up with occasional boarding.
Worksop College and Ranby House School welcomes students from all over the world, and our international students are part of a multi-cultural community of people who care for each other, celebrating diversity and forging strong friendships. Our pastoral system means that all international students are supported as they integrate into school life.
Every year, we hold International Week - seven days of themed activities, events and celebrations courtesy of our overseas students. We learn about their customs and heritage, are shown traditional dances and rituals and listen to music enjoyed by the pupils in their home countries.
We are proud to say that international students at Worksop College and Ranby House represent around 25 different countries and currently make up around 12% of our pupils.
